I love your chill back casual vibe 👍🏾 thanks for being open and honest! Nina as you well know that your audience can’t always afford total high end items to make there home elegant but by simply “mixing together high and low “ price items you can give your home a fabulous look …By surrounding yourself with the things that make you happy this way you are not breaking the bank ! Love to see more episodes on that 🇨🇦🙈

I agree with you, specifically your backsplash and art comments. Backsplashes should not make a splash!! Original art is the thing -- doesn't have to be expensive, but it does have to be original. I have a professionally framed pitcher with flowers that my daughter did when she was 5 in my dining room -- to me it is a priceless work of art! Thanks for your video.

Thank you Nina for making a big thing out of polished brass because I am looking for a traditional crystal chandelier for my bedroom and online I see ‘ almost’ exactly what I want …… but the shiny brass stops me. I was getting weak and tired and worn down with this ongoing search and almost gave in … then I watched you today and skidded to a halt . Thank you for all your wonderful videos 🌹

Yes, more of Nina kicking back and we are just having a cozy chat. 😄 Agree with all you said. I recently bought some grommet curtains for two sliders, and as I stood there in the store, I asked myself, “are these cheesy?” Then I told myself, “but the fabric is just what I want and they slide so effortlessly.” So I got them….and never put them up, because, I decided, they are indeed cheesy.

Yes, I like your new set up and I love that basket weave pillow on your couch. I know you said that shiny gold is out, but there's always an exception to every rule. That very beautiful sculpture behind you is shiny gold (at least it looks shiny on camera) and I'd say it's the exception because it is too beautiful to pass up. Great video!

Hello Nina I found your channel about 6 months ago. I absolutely think you are incredible. You have such incredible style, and you exude elegance. I have worked as a retail store manager for a major department store with a rich history for 40 years. In this time, I learned a great deal about color, we called it color blocking of merchandise. I learned how important rhythm, balance, and scale are to create beautiful spaces and floor plans. Often people would say retail is easy, just put out the goods and keep it moving, but not in my store did we ever do this. The point of my sharing is that I learned a lot from my retail career that has helped me create a beautiful home, but you have helped me take it up a notch, elevate, elevate, and elevate. I love your format of sitting comfortably on a beautiful sofa with dramatic black framed windows behind you, sipping tea. I also love you standing and walking around sharing what you are wearing. I say both are divine, but if you sit, please stand and review your attire with us. Fashion is so connected to interior design. Thanks for being so sweet and lovely. You have a unique way of having class without snobbery and engaging everyone in your design advice. I will be a lifetime fan!

Original art is EVERYWHERE. And its meant to be personal, not necessarily expensive. Put in a tiny amount of legwork and you'll find something that speaks to you. Be open to finding art in strange places. I once spoke to a grade four class and they all put their art en masse on the class walls. This class had done simple watercolour "blob" pieces with gold leaf just to try the medium and when all put together it was gorgeous. I asked if i could buy them from whoever wanted to sell them and the teacher thought I was a nutcase. They wanted $2 each so I paid $8 each (because of how much cash I had on hand) and you'd think I'd paid them in gold. One of the best pieces I've owned. Another of my favourites is a piece I bought last year from an art student for $150 which is HUGE, and people think I paid a fortune on it. She had to do it as a class assignment but had no interest in keeping it. It's beautifully framed and I got to help support a student. There's no reason to have lame artwork in a home. Other than laziness or just ignorance of how else to go about it.

Nina, I just found you and I am in love with your channel!! Let me begin by saying that I am a unique subscriber, in that I happen to be completely blind and I am absolutely addicted to interior design. It is totally my happy place! That said, thank you so much for your insight on accent colors! I just moved into my new little townhouse and starting completely from scratch with a blank canvas. Right now I have some beautiful shades of gray throughout with some white, and some black. I want to really infuse it with a nice color though, so I was debating between Tiffany blue (only), or various shades of green ... You just helped me figure it out. 😜 LOL! Oh and by the way? The videos with you standing were definitely professional, but you sounded more comfortable in this one. It felt more cozy and inviting

Agree with your opinions. Luckily have not added any in my home decor 😊 Yes your new location is more inviting ❤ can you in future address how to place furniture in long spaces . I just bought a condo which the space is rectangular. Great marble fireplace in the center of room. Entrance door across fireplace. To the left the rectangular room becomes larger for the living room. To the right of fireplace the dining room, same width starting from fireplace about 9 feet. Small open kitchen across the living room . How to address furniture 🤔

❤❤❤ 1st...You're lovely and elegant sitting, standing, lounging, sipping tea :-)...2nd.. You're also FUNNY! The Mona Lisa bit 😂...3rd...Curtains? I've gotten not to like them as I've grown in my tastes. Grommet curtains...hmmm...I think many use the wrong rods to hang grommet curtains. I must say the only room I have them in is in my bedroom in my rental / apartment for privacy. I used to think the same and would make lined, French pleated draperies for every place I've lived. However, mine are a beautiful white velvet w/silver (pretty pricey as far as grommet curtains go) and they are lovely and simple with my more modern white decor bedroom. LOL...so it's working until I change the decor in the next year. Would love to consult with you!

Totally understand what you mean about polished brass. It was everywhere in the 1970s which is why I am STILL wary of brass. I am slowly warming up to brass that has patina. Polished brass looked so cheap to me by the 1980s that to this day I refuse to use any brass on drawer pulls or faucets….I know it is nuts but I never fully recovered from the polished brass days.

I agree with ALL of it! Except I kind of have to disagree with a copy of a masterpiece; if it’s original art it’s okay. Or maybe that’s what I tell myself. As an artist, I dreamed of taking an oil painting class. My husband gave me a break from the kids and I finally took one. The second assignment was to replicate a masterpiece. I chose The girl with a pearl earring. For it being my second painting ever, she came out pretty close to the original. I devoted 6 months to painting her the way Vermeer did in thin layers. It’s stunning. She sits in my dining room and it makes me proud and happy to see her every time I open our front door. Yes, it’s a replica but it’s an oil painting I adore that is way better than anything purchased. I will break the rules and continue to display her. Thank you for all your wonderful tips! Xoxo!

I am a first time viewer of yours, love your tips. I am not a rich person, but I do love interior decorating, I buy higher end as my budget allows. I am going to tell on me, so please don't look down. I am in the process of selling my beautiful home in a higher end of town that I totally decorated from top to bottom with higher end materials. I am selling my home for a ranch style modular built home on an acreage, the land and veiw is breath takingly beautiful, everything is on one level, a tough area to buy in, everybody is jealous I was able to obtain this property. I'm preparing for my old years, the home has the foot print I like, it has my dream kitchen, and dininng area with a beautiful gas fireplace, the master bedroom is amazing as well. There are many things I don't like about the home that I will update and change, all the light fixtures, counter tops, bath tub, and doors will be changed, that process is happening now. MY QUESTION: The home has those ugly modular home walls, it has beautiful pillars between the living room and dinning area, and other beautiful features, I want to figure something out without having to strip this home down to the shell as it is a pretty large home, and that would be a high cost thing to do with my wallet, and the other renovations I am in the process of doing, any suggestions? HELP! My colors are creams, white, tans, browns, with a touch of black, and brushed gold fixtures, mixture og metals. The walls are stumping me right now, SORRY for the looong message.

I disagree with your comment about picking Art based on it colors. You don’t pick Art it picks you. However, I do agree with you as to hanging prints of masterpiece by well known artist. I collect art and realize everyone can not afore well know artist, at least first tier artist but there are a lot of second tier (less known) artist that are affordable. There are also many excellent local artists that may turn into the next Picasso

Nice videos, just today have first seen few of them. On this particular one, I tend to disagree with placing fake well known artist photos/copies of their work on the walls being tacky. I mean, what's to stop me if I prefer to look at art that has been successful through out centuries? There is a reason for their success and it should not stop anyone to enjoy that image every day just because is not an original. But, of course, if one talks to the likes of John Legend, yeah, I guess, he would want to have an original of something because he can afford it.

I disagree with eyelet / grommet curtains. It all depends on the rod and filials. Pinch pleat looks old fashioned. I'd steer clear of any furniture with glass tops. Unless you want to clean that surface 10 times a day it is highly impractical.

Love the tips but I have a Monet from 40 years ago that has been the focus point of every room in my homes over the last 40 years…. No it’s not real but it is of good quality and it is like 4’x5’ an expansive piece. I feel aged replicas give that vintage feel… yes a poster print out of the question…we just can’t discount the known artists….the trend is local.. but the inspiration is from history
