Rupert and his team gave us the best gift of all on this amazing design choice - Silk. We choose how we push those RND transformers.

Can you PLEASE bring back the Portico II Channel Strip? Is there a reason it was discontinued.? I used one at a studio here in Vegas,and I was willing to take money out of my 401K to buy one,and NO ONE has any new units! Is it coming back, or do I have to chance buying a used one? The Shelford channel doesn't have a de-esser.

Yes. I want one too! Bring it back please!

I've read it wasn't 'officially' discontinued by choice (they just stopped making it as had no choice at the time) but was due to materials compliance (CA), a technicality rather than anything wrong with Portico II C itself. It was probably the best CStrip ever made at that price.

Don't take from your 401k just save a lithe longer might be a blessing once its available again you could pay cash 😊

I have the MBP and love the warmth of blue silk. However I also love how the red can open things up. If you run another neve unit and dial in red on one and blue on another, would this make any sense or basically cancel out what each is doing? I'm always back and forth between the 2 but usually side with blue.
@tommcwilliams39113 жыл бұрын
@@fernandoherrerabastidas The red emphasizes the highs, which makes it louder and helps bring out some clarity. When comparing red vs. blue, bring your listening volume up a notch when on the blue. We always think louder is better, so sometimes the red makes you assume it is what you like better. I tend to side with the blue because it filters a little harshness but again, you don't get the openness that the red gives you. I use the elysia xfilter with passive massage right after in my chain, so it gives me a little bit of that clarity there.

Simple solution - the new-ish Master Buss Transformer has 'Super Silk', which allows both at the same time. Perfection!

I wish there was a 3rd Silk option of having an equal harmonic distortion content. Were the 70's-80's preamps equal in harmonic distortion content?

What I'm wondering is, why not be able to have red & blue silk at the same time, or just one or the other, or neither? I would think this most advantageous, especially on the group buss, or stereo buss, or on room mics for drums, or for a classical or jazz ensemble.
@RupertNeveDesigns Жыл бұрын
We've seen plenty of customers run a unit with Red engaged into a unit with Blue engaged - for example, a Master Buss Processor into a Master Buss Converter, or a 5057/5059/5060 combo summing system. But currently it's not technically possible to do simultaneous Red + Blue in a single output stage, given the design of the Silk circuit. But who knows what the future holds...
