It would be helpful if there are detailed videos on building planner and physical modeller for modelling from basics.

Thanks for your suggestion. Both these modules have lots of options and need several videos to cover all information. I will try to add few tutorial videos on theses modules in future.

Sir, as per IS 456,Cl. 32.5.1, the reinforcements for shear wall provide in two two mesh each horizontal and vertical grid if wall thickness >200 mm, but RCDC design the shear wall reinforcement always in 2 layers even if the wall thickness less than 200 mm, is there any provison in RCDC for single mesh reinforcement for wall having width less than 200 mm? Please reply.. Thanks sir....

Dear Sir, why some members failed when we design them in RCDC Connect edition even if concrete design is appearing for them in stadd pro when designed using IS code design parameters in analysis and design tab. RCDC says section size not adequate while staad pro has provided Ast and bar size for the same section size in output file. What are the design parameters that we are missing & considered by rcdc. It will be helpful if you make video on concrete design parameters for IS code. Like Elz, Ely, ENHS etc.

There are several factors which might affect the design results - for example, batch mode of concrete designs each analytical member at a time whereas RCDC designs multiple member as a physical entity. During reinforcement detailing, it might happen that the selected bar arrangement for entire physical member is not sufficient at a particular zone. This problem doesn't appear in batch mode as it assigns the reinforcement for each member separately without considering any bar continuity. There are several other factors as well, including design parameters, version of STAAD. You can compare the Ast required and bar details in RCDC reinforcement table and failure diagnostic report to get an idea why it fails.

Hello sir, When I transfer the model from the physical modeler to the STAAD pro, the concrete beam and column sections are transferred as a general section instead of circular or rectangular sections, and the RCDC can not read these sections, Beam missing and column missing error is pop up. Thanks for the help

When you create a structure in Physical Modeler and assign the properties, concrete properties will be transferred to the analytical modeler as general user table section with section name mentioned in the property table as this is the way the concrete member property information is added in the physical modeler. But this does not affect the design of members. Any physical model with concrete member can be designed using Advanced Concrete Designer without any problem. Beam/Column missing information is reported in Concrete designer when program in unable to read the member information from analysis model. There are multiple reasons for that - but modeling in physical modeler is not the reason for this. As the physical member information is generated in the physical modeler, if you use any older version of Concrete Designer (RCDC), then that might cause this problem. There are other reasons also. If you can post your model along with version information in Bentley Communities site, I can check and let you know the reason. communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/f/ram-staad-forum#pifragment-25818=1

Sir When I draw beam elevation in RCDC, it is drawn in scale of 1:50. I don't see an option to change the default scale of 1:50. Please help me to change the scale. Thanks

1 is to 50 is not the time stamp above but the scale of generated drawing

You can control few drawing settings using Drawing Style manager but for beam, scale of the drawing is hard coded, so we cannot modify it.

Thanks sir. Also one more question - what is response modification coefficient that you showed in column design. I mean what if response reduction factor is already applied in earthquake load case during analysis ?
@surojit_ghosh
@surojit_ghosh 2 жыл бұрын
It is same as the response reduction factor that we need to specify for seismic analysis. This input is required for IS13920 code (Response Modification Coefficient for ACI code) - to calculate additional moment in Gravity column to cater for displacement computability during lateral loads. Check section 11 of IS13920:2016 for more details on gravity column design. Though this information is provided in seismic definition, still we need to provide this once again in RCDC for ductile design.

Each software has some advantages and disadvantages, so it is not logical to compare . If you consider concrete design features, STAAD with the help of Advanced Concrete Design module can design any concrete element and generate deliverable drawing files including BBS and BOQ files, also it is very easy to re-design and auto-update the drawing files. Not only that, you can also perform finite element analysis for elevated slab and mat foundation and design based on FEA results (RCC + Post-tensioned).

@@surojit_ghosh OK, Can Staad pro do the required design of tall concrete building under seismic and design the shear walls considering the selendress of the wall (effect of buckling for both columns and shear walls)? thanks
@surojit_ghosh
@surojit_ghosh 3 жыл бұрын
Yes Amr, you can model tall structure in STAAD and analyze it and then perform design using SACD (including Shear Wall). Just one additional information, for tall or super tall structures, there are several additional modeling and analysis consideration which requires special analysis. We have a dedicated building design software "RAM Structural System" which can handle all these advanced analysis required for tall buildings including dual framing system, multiple floor diaphragms, wind tunnel data consideration and many more. If you want, I can provide you more information about this.
