We are excited to announce that guest-speaker Dr Benjamin Cerfontaine of University of Dundee will host this webinar on "Design of rock anchors for offshore applications".
The development of aquaculture farms or floating tidal renewable energy devices requires the introduction of new anchor systems for rocky seabed, typical of strong current offshore environment. A recent technology makes use of a self-drilling groutless anchor, improving the installation efficiency and ensuring an easy decommissioning.
While grouted rock anchors are common in engineering practice, the design of groutless anchors relies on oversimplified design methods. Limit analysis is the perfect technique to efficiently investigate the failure mechanisms of groutless anchors and identify variables that should be incorporated in more accurate design methods.
This webinar will address how the problem was analysed in Optum, through 2D and 3D modelling. Examples of typical results will be presented together with some details of the modelling process and Optum features.
The webinar is followed by a Q&A with Benjamin and the Optum founders.
