Nice explanation....can you please put a light on concept behind formula used for calculting batten depth... Also this is the 1st indian video with a conceptual explanation.....haven't seen any other with such explanation Can i get the source from which you got the knowledge

Thank You for watching our video, all the recommendation are based on IS 800:2007, here the depth of intermediate batten and end batten should be more so that the magnitude of shear stresses and bending stresses developed will be within limit, otherwise failure of batten plate may occur which ultimately lead to failure of batten column. (also in simple words bending in a beam will be more if depth is less or vice versa) You must refer SK Duggal for more details, and if you read things again and again automatically you will understand the reason behind

What will be the depth of end batten in case of welding since effective depth is c/c distance between bolts
