Bloom Technique

Ok, so I know it has been like - forever - that I introduced doing a bloom. Well, let me tell ya’ll - one - it is a hard technique to do - two - there are a million “recipes” out there and what works for one - does not necessarily work for the next person. What I am showing you today is from Tammy Anderson’s cell activator ( / @tammyandersonart ) and I also want to mention my friend Nancy Pitri ( / nancypitre.art . She does NOT use ANY house paint in her pours!nI hope you will stop by and tell these incredible artist - and awesome people hello!
• Ok - so here is how it went down! The “pillow paint” - I used the WalMart Color Place white satin - 15oz with 1oz of VividArt Fluid (ok, or water --- but this stuff is made to work with acrylic paint!)
• The “medium” - I used the HGTV Sherwin Williams Satin - Base C. Three tablespoon of that - plus one tablespoon of Minwax Polycrylic (can definitely use the Jo Sonja varnish).
• The CELL ACTIVATOR (yes, thank you Tammy Anderson) - Floetrol 2TBS, Glue All 1TBS, Pre Stain Minwax 1/2tsp.
Now - ya’ll - all this WILL WORK! I have had some issues with drying. I’ll talk about those in the next video. Now, when I say it will work --- again, I stand behind the real fact that what works for some -- will not work for others! Be ready to pour and pour again -- but I still say - If I can do it --- YOU can do it!

Nothing makes cells like Aussie floetrol. I bit the bullet, gave up on trying cell recipes with US floetrol. Nancy Pitre's cell activator uses 1 part Amsterdam white or any color, 1 part water and 2 droppers full liquitex acrylic ink. White or any color. It works like a charm for Nancy and you can see in her pieces. It's almost idiot proof. The cells are well established and never hazy even when you stretch the paint by tilting or spinning it to death. Nancy also uses just acrylic paint for the pillow and the colors. Her modified bloom is the only technique that doesn't trigger my panic attack lol. Finding Aussie floetrol just gave acid reflex Everytime.

I bit the bullet as well and ordered Aussie floetrol. It is crazy the difference it makes! But then there is the struggle with US not being able to easily get the same thing! Nancy's recipe works wonderful for her - it just never did for me! But, I shall push on and do more experimenting! Thank you for watching!
