Generally you would lay them opposite the floor joists but you may want to check with a flooring expert on this one ❤️

How do you keep the kids off of the items on the coffee table? Lol People think I'm crazy for decorating and styling my house with kids and even I wouldn't style a coffee table..lol. Your style is amazing btw.
