Glybirdy, show after show of designer after designer, talking about white on white on white... Plus this designer was just damn good. She was interesting and addressed real issues.

After researching solutions for my arched window, including videos, you are the first person to address the problem of the window AND the "pinched ceiling" (as you described.: The roman shade idea is exactly what I prefer - if only I can find a way to make it myself, because it sounds like it could be pricey. Thank you SO much for your insight and excellent ideas.

Maia is awesome! Want to see more from her. She had me laughing and taught me something, too. This video alone resolved an arched window decorating issue where window is smack dab in the center of the wall, so thank you for the advice!

What if I have arch windows in a condo with no high ceilings, are custom romans my only option?

Thx for the info. I'll use the same practices on an octagonal window that I've got in my stairway/ hallway.

I have an arc window facing the street with the door opening it toward it on the right. It has about a foot on each side. Would frosting them look bad?
@stamiejones27285 жыл бұрын
You can also get a flexible curtain rod if you don’t have the space on each side, dont have high ceilings and don’t want to compromise the arch by having it always covered with custom drapes.

What about arched doors that act as windows as well. Our living room and bedrooms have 9 ft arched metal and glass bifold doors and finding a way to run drapery has been a nightmare. I hate the idea of completely covering the window and the solution inside the arch you presented looks a little girlish. I opted for a solid flat reed panel that I edged and mounted to the door. It looks great. I also have been experimenting with a radial arched box pleat or pinch pleat that looks pretty amazing. Do you know of anyone making pleated (graduated pleats using the arc of the drape as the variable pleat size determination) drapes for inside arched windows?

I have the exact window you mention at the end of the video in my bedroom. I appreciate your suggestion but I'm still searching for the perfect solution. I want the arch completely exposed to bring in maximum light during the day and completely covered at night. It's quite the puzzle!

@@dysequilibrium not really. I think I'm going to go with curtains.

Maia, thanks for the information, very informative but have a question for you. What is the program you are using on your i-pad?

My arch window sits back above a square window. So there is a ledge/shelf of about 1 foot that starts at the bottom of the arch window. Also, to make it more complicated, the ceiling above the arch window starts at a point above it then slants down on each side to where it meets the ledge/shelf. IF you get my drift, do you have any suggestions besides shutters?

I like one of your 1st options, but what about if you have a 9ft ceiling and not a 10ft? I bought almost brand new pinch pleat drapes from someone that just moved into a new house and wanted to change because the color didn't go with what they wanted to paint the rooms. The drapes are a log longer if I take the drape from just under the arch to the floor. Someone suggested hanging the rod right above the arch-like you showed. Wondering which would be best for a 9ft ceiling and 2 single arch windows side by side in a 14x31 foot open living/dining room

So difficult! I ended up buying the arch rod and regular curtain

Any idea how I can install curtains on a huge arched window with not much space on ceilings as the ceiling is also curved? Like is there a thing called large arched window rods and how to put curtains on it?
@jennd38686 жыл бұрын
What about large rectangular windows set deep into a wall with a foot and a half deep window seat. We have a regular oversize rectangular window on the wall next to the one that's the same size but the other one deeply set with that window seat. It's challenging because I feel that it should match but the seat gets in the way
