As a shipbuilder you sir are living my dream, with that very engine

Yes, we just got a marine header tank and some parts delivered this summer from Joe McCool. We'll start cleaning, fitting mounts, and making a few changes to get it ready for Sam's new build.

What style of letters are used to say Gardner on the cylinder head doors? If its the chunky block style letters you should look at getting a set of doors from an LXB or L3B series engine. Much better looking Gardner logo. And later ones can be either countersunk head setscrews or standard bolts. A colour scheme we use on our Gardners is Silver crankcase, Red block and heads Letters on head doors and rocker covers. highlighted in Black

Hi guys, if your putting a centrifugal pump on, make sure, the top water rail, does not have the restriction bushes in. ( bushes were fitted, with a ram water pump. )

Thanks for the tip - we'll check it out

@@SVCSkallywags ye no problem, I have done many Gardner engine, ( served my time there ) but one of them had a ram pump, which we changed to a centrifugal pump, so just pull the bushes out. Always here to help.

I’m new to boating and boat engines. Learning all about Gardner at the moment - thanks for the video. I’m looking at buying a converted steel trawler, 38tonne, 46’. (could be a big mistake for a new commercial to boating ). The current owner keeps pointing out the Gardner engine as one of its best features. It’s a Gardner 6LXCT with 2500 hours. Not sure why the hour count is so low. Just learning about Gardner and the history of their engines. PS Was the turbo a reliable addition to the engine design?

I'm not sure about a turbo - I only have experience with a handful of these engines and they were all natural aspiration. I'd check with Joe McCool - he's the guy that would know!
