Little big plans are afoot at the Workshop. Right now, we're working on a whole new range of 1:30 scale dioramas and collectible figures, starting with the iconic Battle of Dol Guldur. What will be next? Have your say at www.wetanz.com/shop/130-scale...

Awesome - have visited Weta Workshop six times (after each of the screenings of the movie's from LOTR and The Hobbit), have several collectibles of my own and have shared this You Tube with others around the world. Thanks Weta Team you are amazing. Namaste Chris Knight

Please make terrain pieces in 1:58 scale! It would fit perfectly with Games Workshop's 28mm miniatures. There's nothing like having a diorama or terrain piece that can actually be used in a wargame as well as look good on the display shelf. Hope you are listening Weta!

I love to see these folks smiling and laughing while working, that they're all such fans themselves and give the collectors and audience so much consideration and respect. They have the right idea about everything, it seems!!🥰🥰🥰💯💯

Something involving Aragons speech at the black gate would be awesome, also the scene in unexpected journey where Biblo opens the door and all the dwarves fall in with Gandalf peering into the room, could make for a cool 2 part piece with both perspectives. :)

I'd love anything from Moria in this scale. Also, my favourite scene, Amon Hen. I'd love to set up Boromir and Lurts with the hobbits being taken.

I know action scenes will be the most likely for 1:30 candidates, but I would be stoked to have the unexpected party with 13 dwarves, gandalf and bilbo in bag end, with modular rooms with open ceilings you could look down into. The final piece might be the entrance hall and doorstep, where you could place a dwarf or two ringing the bell from outside. Oh, the possibilities! Weta could even throw us a bone and release a few rooms we haven't seen in the films, to match with our floor plan of bag end.

I would love to see any scenes from the Hobbit and LoTR as a 1:30 scale. But what about the Games Workshop range of product for them ? Ok, they are 1:60 scale and mostly used to play as a battle game but still collectibles ;) Does that means that GW will stop produce them ?

I really need Funko to do the other Lord of the Rings Pops. I do not have the money to collect Hot Toys, but Funkos anyone can collect. My dream is to have the Pops of Elrond, Gimli, Galadriel, Gandalf the White and Boromir. Sauron deserves more versions of Funko Pop. Will I have all before I die? :)

Awesome! Games Workshop have dropped the ball badly with figure support for the game. Perhaps this is an opportunity for gamers to have access to a much better range of models (cheaper please!) for skirmish battles. GW insist on casting the LotR figures in their Finecast resin and it is hideous!

Because of that they did with The Hobbit, they will never get to put The Silmarillion on the silver screen.
@NimbusAngelo
@NimbusAngelo 7 жыл бұрын
They never had the rights to The Silmarillion and if they did it would be almost impossible to film since that book is mostly just Middle-earth history. The Silmarillion has very little narrative to make compelling films and would feel more like a documentary. Also, J.R.R Tolkien's son Christopher Tolkien hates Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and said that they did not respect the work of his father. Christopher Tolkien was also not pleased when WB announced that they were planning on filming The Hobbit. However, The Hobbit Trilogy earned almost 3 billion dollars for WB and much of that went towards New Zealand. For many decades Tolkien's other books have been off limits which is the reason why the public has only been exposed to LOTR and Hobbit cartoons and movies. Basically this was all the magic that we were ever going to get of Middle-earth.

The Silmarillion is not financially feasible, but maybe a 50-100 episode TV series by HBO, set in middle-Earth (with The Silmarillion) would work. Some of the reasons The Hobbit movies didn't start filming when planned was The Tolkien estate said "no, not until you pay us what is owed[LotR]", and the fact that WB had licensed out middle-Earth to everything from gambling games to other whoreish enterprises. But The Hobbit movies had a sort of blessing, a "go ahead" from The Tolkien estate. They have yet to comment on the results, the atrocious Hobbit Trilogy, or have they? I doubt they are complaining about the money being driven by trucks up to their estate. I remember now, someone has the rights to "The Tale of Beren and Lúthien", and a movie is in "the works". But this was news after the dreadful Hobbit movies, so maybe they lost the spirit/funding. The rights for a Beren and Lúthien were bought many years ago, but I can't recall the details.

Action scenes with lots of stress and conflict are amusing for a few seconds, but they quickly become tiresome. Snapshot action scenes clamp down on your imagination; they're claustrophobic. Think of the Mona Lisa's quiet reflection. Think of David's pensive pause before he took that cheap shot at Goliath. Characters should be in quiet repose, not even a raised glass; the imagination will add the toast.Quiet, happy times are best for sculpture. Make it a place where you mind wants to dwell for a long lime.(1) The dwarves with Bilbo and Gandalf together in the Parlour at Bag-end(2) Happy times with the hobbits at the Green Dragon(3) Having a pint at the Prancing Pony; and for heaven's and Tolkien's sake, make it cheerful, not gloomy (4) The Council of Elrond(5) Reunion at Rivendell(6) "Where are you, thief in the shadows?"(7) "... if I might have a wee moment of your time?"
