As someone who loves to cook and has a classic structured house and loves the "charmy old house" style, I have to say; sometimes I crave for the space of a big open concept. Having more space seems nice and when you have dinner plans, you like being with your guests, not aisolated in the kitchen, going back and forth like a headless chicken XD

This was a fantastic audio ! listening to him talking about design brought back so many memories of me helping my mum and the tradies renovate houses as I was growing up of I was in my early teens at the time but still and now I want to go build something again!! My mum taught me how to look after and maintain vintage furniture and how to save beautiful architecture while renovating houses ! When I heard the listener say we're going to get rid out all the beautiful architecture I wanted to jump through the screen and strangle the the listener and beat some sense into them because you do not touch beautiful architecture unless you are going to maintain it or repair it!!!!

this strikes me as a designer who got stuck with certain projects in the same area. Those families that all wanted the same basic looks to one up their neighbors with more expensive marble counters instead of actual design and it just killed their style

It pains me BEYOND words that we're the modernist white-wash demo zombie in this scenario. God. Especially as someone who tries to fake the look of old sculpting in more modern spaces. Everything is just so fucking flat and boring. Especially after cookie cutter homes became a thing. It was a cool idea in theory, but god damnit Sears you fucking made these boring ass structures a standard. And I'd like to achieve a fresco of a garden by painting on transfer paper and then applying it to an accent wall. Maybe outline it with fake pillars idk. Hopefully when a save up enough for one of the tiny abandoned castles here, I'll find some people to work with to achieve it. Also tiny castles are surprisingly available and not nearly as expensive as you would expect.
