I like how it’s essentially the perfect blend of all 3 of the last modern male doctors Tennant’s (10) Smith and Capaldi. It’s got the colours of the tenth doctor and the fabric of the 11ths purple jacket and he styles it like how 12 did with his jacket

I view Fourteen's outfit -- and indeed, Fourteen themself -- as a more mature, more put-together version of Ten. Basically, if Ten is a younger and more energetic person in their late twenties or early thirties, then Fourteen is that same person as they're entering middle-age and have experienced the world a bit more. That's why Fourteen feels almost like Ten but not quite, IMHO.

I believe the reason that only the top button of the waistcoat is done up is a nod to David's time as the Tenth Doctor when he intentionally decided to mix up which buttons were done up on the pinstripe blazers between each story.

I remember on the DVD commentary he and Russell were talking about David choosing which one was buttoned vs. not (much to the costumer's chagrin). And David said something about him being surprised no one had started a website about it. So I bought a URL right then for it and started a website about what The Doctor was wearing in each episode, especially which buttons were done up! I never finished it and life sidetracked me... but it's still up there in a glorious half-finished 2010-ish Wordpress site! Haha! Maybe I'll re-watch all the episodes (I've lost all my notes now) and finally finish it.

I think it's great how much say David has in these sorts of things that make up his portrayal of the Doctor. When showrunners have faith in the actors to build a character out, that is where you make magic, and RTD and David do work very well together as showrunner and lead actor.

I love that it's not the same as his old outfit but definitely pays tribute and I LOVE that it's practically a blend of the latest Doctors in one. It’s a brilliant outfit, to say the least. Similar vibe to 10, just different on the details, which is exactly how 14 should work. I just wish I could find a decent replica of that suit for cosplay purposes. Saw one that was at least close enough on pattern, but no vest, just the jacket and trousers. I’ll probably be stuck cosplaying 12 forever. Oh well, at least it will get better as my hair goes grey.

Fantastic, seeing the Doctor and Dona back together was pure magic. The Tardis is certainly bigger and better on the inside, loved watchin the Doctor running round, just like a kid let loose in a toy shop. Can't wait to see the remaining episodes.

That and Harrison's don't seem interested in doing another run of it. It's also insanely expensive. Three meters was going to cost me something like 600 dollars Canadian...and then I would have to pay for the tailoring on top of that. Magnoli Clothiers are going to be offering a much more affordable version though. They've just announced that they have produced their own reproduction of the fabric. It looks fantastic and lowered their price for the vest and pants by 300 us dollars.

my favorite element is that the tie, white shirt, and top buttoned waistcoat create this sort of hourglass look, with the tie representing the sand... its very fitting for a time traveller and one of the best Doctor outfits ever.

I think with 90 minutes instead of 60 minutes for Star Beast the story would have softer edges (his stories are always better when he's not rushed for time), but I think this is very in line with who Russell has always been and I'm ok with it.

As great as these little BTS clips are, I wish they were a part of Unleashed; feels like, despite being 30 minutes, it only scratched the surface and little clips like this could go a long way of making the show feel more in-depth. Still, glad to see this stuff is being uploaded as I love hearing breakdowns like this and I’m glad Unleashed is a thing; the ‘Stef’s Work Experience’ is a wonderful addition!!

The top button being the only one closed is kinda what makes it a DW costume. There's always something a little bit weird and add a bit of uniqueness: Scarf too long (4), Celery stick on the lapel (5), Question mark theme (7) Suit with allstar converse shoes (10), Bow ties that are cool (11) or sleeves that are slightly too long (12) and suspenders and the earrings (13).

The Doctor has been alive for... I don't know... nearly infinitely long at this point (though much of that was in weird time loops and who knows what alternate-dimensional-space and whatnot that recent writers have squeezed into the stories), so it makes total sense that he (or she) keeps improving the technology of the sonic screwdriver.

In the Empty Child it repairs barbed wire, and no it doesn't solder it, it looks more like 3d printing. Sometimes the sonic just does what the story needs it to, and you can't look at it too hard. It's timey-wimey. Setting up a resonance pattern in the concrete is actually a 9th Doctor nod as well!

Guys why are yall protecting this? i dont hate the show bc of this is still like it i just think they maybe shouldnt introduce "new" things suddenly that apprently couldnt be before like the sonic didnt change apprently. Like in one episode they even said the software is always the same only the Case looks different Looks. but now the Casing also allows new things to be done? did he update the sonic now or what? why couldnt that have happend before? i am assuming they just introduced it for the Conveniece of it helping make the story work easily.@@bast713

On a practical level, if Tennant was suddenly in Whitaker's clothes, there would have been a Hulk effect, with the seams splitting. She's a pretty small person, and he's not. They would have had to either show the ripping of the clothes, or explain why the clothes suddenly changed size, so this seems like a reasonable option. They still need to explain it (or at least we want an explanation), but they'd have consistency problems no matter what.

RTD gave a real world reason but we have yet to get an in universe one. I hope he does address it though as I'm curious.
