Agreed!! As much as I loved Jan since her SNL days and she could have been a great fit for the show, I feel that by the time she joined the cast...the dye of the show being a former she’ll of itself had already been cast.

This was my Grandma's favorite show. We watched it every week. I miss her and I watch this, Martin, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and 60 minutes to honor her memory and reminisce with laughter.

I adored this show! Too many favorite episodes to pick just one but the one with Dolly Parton is among the top 10. One minute I would laugh, the next, I was in tears. Very touching

I remember when Lifetime used to be so bomb and had all these great reruns of classic sitcoms and did special reunions like this. Though I confess I never actually seen a full episode of Designing Women but was always more a Golden Girls person.

Glad they did this reunion before Meshach , Dixie and Alice passed on. This show was like a weekly "Steel Magnolias" Julia- Shirley McLaine. MaryJo- Clairee. Maylyn -Bernice. Suzanne- Annelle. Charlene- Truvy. Anthony- Drummond. Too bad they don't have these episodes in chronological order by season.

I loved this show! The first episode aired when I was only 4 years old but I remember watching it with my Mom and Grandmother and throughout the years in reruns. I still watch anything starring Jean Smart and Annie Potts. I love Delta Burke. RIP to Dixie Carter, (my alter ego is Julia Sugarbaker) Meshach Taylor, Alice Ghostley , Jan Hooks and yes, Hal Holbrook.

They really don't make sitcoms like this anymore. Genuinely funny and sharp shows with amazing casts and writing like Designing Women, Golden Girls, Frasier, Martin, Living Single, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sanford and Son, The Andy Griffith Show, Good Times, The Nanny, Married with Children, Fresh Prince, The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Original Roseanne, My Wife & Kids etc. All such hilarious shows tv needs today more than ever.

Yes. I can only remember one line from Julia to Allison in those entire seasons. The show was totally forgettable. In contrast, I remember dozens of whole scenes and whole eps with the original cast. They were hilarious. The characters, the chemistry, the comedic timing,- they just lost so much when Delta & Jean left.

In my opinion,the best, most meaningful, and poignant tirade was in season 2, episode 4 “Killing All the Right People” when Julia was yelling at her friend Imogene because the latter was making offensive remarks about the women’s friend Kendall who was dying of A.I.D.S.

Everyone, all five, look marvelous....Jean's hairstyle is lovely and Annie in a pixie cut that's dark, not red ! I've recently heard chatter of a reboot, however, it should be of limited episodes just to get everyone up to date, and maybe tie up any loose ends from 1993. I'd hate to have DW turn out like Murphy Brown did---unwatchable. Meshach's description of the ladies was very good but the best was during the Dash Goff episode.

They aren't "so thin"! They look to be a healthy weight! Everyone TODAY is OVERWEIGHT so in comparison to our obese world, they look thin, but there was a time when EVERYONE looked like that and obesity was rare. But then came fast food & sitting on our asses all the time, and now obesity is a greater health risk around the world than hunger. Everyone has copied the American diet and lifestyle.

Oh I LOVE THESE LADIES. I LOVED BJ too. It would’ve been awesome to have had her earlier that just the last season. “Alison” character totally ruined them. They got canceled b/c of Sweeney but BJ..Judith Ivey...made the last 2 seasons a real hoot! But Bernice and Anthony made me laugh every time they were on the screen.

I disagree. This cast is the cast that made the show a big hit. People stopped watching the show when the brought in the replacements. That's why the ratings dropped. If people didn't want to watch them THEN, they certainly don't want to watch them NOW. No, this was a reunion of the cast that had the CHEMISTRY that made the show successful, and the replacements would have been like 3rd wheels tagging along on a date. I don't think they would have even WANTED to come because they know that. This reunion was so precious and so short. We could watch a whole season of them telling stories and watching clips of their scenes together! I wouldn't have wanted the other 3 taking any time away from the original cast. The show just wasn't as good after Delta & Jean left.
