why not spread the masters between the two production zones? you still satisfy the latency and availability? or not?

Because etcd servers require latency below 2 milliseconds between them (according to Red Hat), this is really difficult to put in place.

sorry I always thought it was below 2ms from a reinvent talk, however it seems to be the ideal case not the reality according to www.quora.com/What-are-typical-ping-times-between-different-EC2-availability-zones-within-the-same-region

This video has good content but looks disturbing as guy asking questions already know what he supposed to ask and he doesn't see the whiteboard when the lady is explaining. Not a good acting and they are talking so closely which doesn't look good and seems load. In spite if you can have the entire diagram in the video and someone putting questions in the dashboard and responding would have been much better. Content is good... as it's of world tech leader RedHat is providing.
