The amount of complexity this game has compared to when it was made is still astounding and shocking to me to believe. And it all ran so smooth (for the most part) even at the time. I wish I had gotten into it as a kid but I was way too busy blowing up lemmings and burning Sims alive. Great video as usual. Love how the level really forces you to play the actual game without turning your park into a giant meme, as fun as that is. It's like the first boss in an RPG where you can't just attack it and spam your best magic or you will get punished. Neat concept!
@Somerandomjingleberry Жыл бұрын
Y’know why it’s so smooth? Sawyer wrote the game IN ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE. He didn’t use an engine, he didn’t even use something like Python, no, he basically did the most direct thing you can possibly do, second only to just manually inputting every single individual one and zero. RCT is one of the most optimized video games in all of existence.

My initial reaction was just to delete one square on the path. You did mention that, but it's seems obvious to prevent people to walk where you haven't expanded to yet.

Well said. And I mean heck even in real life some business entrepeneurs think they can just skip past the beginning phases when building their grandiose theme park. Probably the most infamous case of such in modern time is a place called Wonderland Eurasia in Ankara, Turkey. Invisioned as an idea by a former corrupt mayor of the city to attract tourism to it, this is one of the largest theme parks in the whole world covering a humongus plot of land and having 17 different roller coasters, some even duplicates of eachother, spread around it. But not only did a public funds scandal appear, the place got delayed by several years due to crime investigation and halting construction. But when it finally did open, less than half the rides, despite all being put into place years ago, were open. And the entire park shut down shortly after and is just abandoned, with 17 almost brand new for the most part roller coasters and tonnes of rides decaying in the Middle Eastern Sun. They went way too big from the beginning, They wanted to be the next Cedar Point, Magic Mountain, or Alton Towers, or Europa Park. But of course Rome wasn't built in a day. All of those places started out small and slowly grew from there.
@alaeriia013 жыл бұрын
The funny part is that Energylandia in Poland pulled roughly the same stunt but spread it out a bit and now they're an absolute powerhouse, with 17 coasters of their own (and another on the way). Not bad for a park that opened in 2014!
@drdewott91543 жыл бұрын
@@alaeriia01 Yeah but there's something a bit under the rug there and that is external funding. This entire park is funded to the brim by the EU to encourage tourism in eastern europe. That's how theyve been able to afford expanding at all. As it is now the park is way too big and with too little attendance to sustainability keep itself running without EU funding.

Transport rides don't get used by guests for transport in RCT and RCT2, they're basically just sh!tty coasters, i don't know about RCT3, but i have a feeling it's the same. Not that a player would know this, but still.
@BabusGameRoom Жыл бұрын
But you can use them for crowd management, getting people towards different parts of your park so they aren't all clustered at the entrance where your cheaper and older rides are. So they aren't completely useless!
