I will suggest a book " Solving Product Design Exercises " by Artiom Dashinsky to improve problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as it help us to crack design exercise and whiteboard rounds in the interview.

Usually the content creators do it for views, you're right about that but an important here is that they get those basic videos out so that we buy their course (which is usually quite some dollars). It's been years since I've been searching for a structured way of learning intermediate to advanced visual design. I haven't found it yet. Damn basic analogous, complimentary...color theory and stuff like.that 😂

I am overwhelmed by the pervasive presence of AI in every aspect of our lives. It seems like everything is starting to look the same due to the rapid and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. People are rushing to implement AI technologies without considering the long-term implications, and it's becoming exhausting. Furthermore, these AI systems are often trained using our original work without proper acknowledgment or compensation, which is deeply frustrating. I do use AI to ensure my writing is grammatically correct, but that's all. I don't appreciate the idea of relying on AI to do the hard work that everyone can easily get done. As humans, we need to maintain our unique touch in everything we do. No robot should replace our creativity and individuality.

Once, I met a senior designer from Myntra who advised me not to limit myself to being just a UI designer. He mentioned that the work often involves simple drag-and-drop tasks, especially since most established startups and companies already have their design systems in place. While I'm unsure about the role AI will play in this, now his advice and yours is starting to make more sense to me.

Don’t stop what you’re doing. Increase your pace of learning. Ask more questions. Be more curious. Reduce distractions. Increase productivity. Just because AI can do something, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t know how to do it without AI. Whether AI is there or not, it’s not going to be easy.

I think designer should be learn some sense of technology as well not just tool, such as basic fundamentals of ai/ml how these things work, how ai product are built, terminology of developer, understanding of business etc. this is just starting, ai agents could super power a good designer. Hello 👋 Chetan @DesignPilot, I am feeling fearful 😨 😨 now. Am I wasting my time? Will I not regret it in the future if I try to make a career in the field I am doing now? And what should I do now, I have just started learning about UI/UX Design for 2-3 months. I am writing this to you as my elder brother. this video was incredibly insightful! As a beginner in UI/UX design, I found your breakdown of the impacts of Figma AI on the industry both eye-opening and motivating. It’s fascinating (and a bit daunting!) to see how AI is changing the landscape, but I appreciate your emphasis on the importance of creativity, critical thinking, and articulation. This gives me a clear idea of where to focus my efforts as I continue learning. Thank you for providing such valuable context looking forward to more content like this!

The first thing to ask yourself is why do you want to be a product designer. Be honest with yourself. Don’t bullshit yourself. If you’re not here for the right reasons, you need to rethink your career plan very quickly. Ask yourself if your personal life allows you to work very hard, does it give you the freedom and time you need to be dedicated? Ask yourself if you really are motivated and excited and interested in learning? If not, do you know how to get that motivation. They say it’s better to stay single for the rest of your life than to get married to the wrong person. Similarly if you don’t know why you want to be a product designer and you think you’ll try and make it work, you’re undertaking a mega risk.

@@DesignPilot First of all, I appreciate the time that you spent on this comment and your genuine reply. I have got a lot of courage from your reply. And I have got a strong reason and whatever I do in future will help me a lot. so, Thank you so much Chetan bhai. I worked on that, I thought 1 or 2 hours and Finally, I got near to the solution that I have Time, Freedom, and my parents' Support to Do What I want to Do. I ask myself 1 Question Repeatedly and that is " Why did I Choose to Become a UI/UX Designer " and I got my answer Every Time that is " I don't have options." I completed my Grad on BCA 5 years ago. after that, I found Jobs in Different Fields instead of devs and design. I have heard about UI/UX from Social media and KZbin since last year. This Year I Started Looking for Career Opportunities in this field. During This time I realized I have been a creative person since childhood and I don't want to do work beyond technology, Apps, the Web, or AI, So finally I've decided to do whatever it takes.

Does a company REALLY need designers in the long term, or are we just biased as designer? Like IT sector can't run without software devs. Have you asked yourself if you are building a tech startup, will you hire full time designer or just hire freelancer? Can you launch a product build without designer? Why number of jobs for designers are low? I am preparing too but back of my mind, I am having these doubt.
@ivozhelev
@ivozhelev Ай бұрын
I’ve thought about it a lot lately and what I’ve come up with is that designers are going to become more of a luxury for the biggest projects where things have to be perfect. But for most MVP software or most startups it’s going to be unnecessary to spend money on designers. So what that means to us designers is that we’ll be placed in a similar position as artists, where there are the 10% that are successful and make good money, and there are the other 90% that are struggling. All and all there are too many designers right now than there is goin to be need for.
@DesignPilot
@DesignPilot Ай бұрын
@ivozhelev On point! But I don’t think design is ever a luxury. Big companies need to have exceptional products. So it will always be a necessity. The question is about how much of a necessity is it.
@aj-lan284
@aj-lan284 Ай бұрын
@@ivozhelev agreed. 💯 Design is not a urgent problem as software engineering (although software engineering is also becoming saturated day by day). It is more of a luxury for startups. I think designers are just biased, which is why they believe that companies should see design as a critical issue.

In order to design well with AI you have to be able to evaluate the design well in the first place, to know what's good, what works and what doesn't. Like working with a junior. Figma AI's push to "level the playing field" is by definition not aimed at good/senior designers. These POs, Devs and whoever else, will not have a clue whether the design is good/bad nor how to fix it. A lot more poor, generic products will soon be added to the already rather poor and generic Internet, only these designs will be made by people who have no design and evaluation skills. Enshittification accelerates.

33:20 Generally Indian citizens are more driven by end result and to begin with. You've to show the final state as first. Also, people thinking from here, they'll able to file tax. IMO - It could be File Now (Opens a popup and asks to replace previous one or not) or Edit 'File now' with 'File new'. and Secondary Action to be 'Resume Previous Application'. It has already been used by various exam websites. Infosys is such a large company if they had done testing inside their 100 employees. They'd have not had any issue.
@DesignPilot
@DesignPilot Ай бұрын
I’d like to disagree. This has nothing to do with being an Indian or not. The chances that someone wants to resume their filing is way more than starting a new one from scratch. That’s the whole reason you have primary and secondary CTAs. Why not make both primary then?
@anantsharma5330
@anantsharma5330 Ай бұрын
Or I would have one CTA to 'FILE NOW'. If I would like to reset changes, there will be additional button in filling page 'RESET ALL' with confirmation popup. It should just resume always. To start new, i would have reset option on next page.

Think of whiteboarding sessions as your kick off meetings in your company before you start a new project. The goal is not about coming with solutions that meet all requirements.
