I was never remotely interested in Talk Talk. I'd bought, and loved "life's what you make it" when it was released but, knowing nothing about the band other than having them pegged in my head, as a "synthi pop" act, it never occurred to me me to check out "Colour Of Spring". Then, one day, I was reading "Q" magazine and stumbled across a review of "Spirit Of Eden". I can't remember the review but, whether it was positive or not, there must have been something in it that intrigued me. Accordingly, off I went to my local record shop and purchased the newly released album. And, to this day, I still believe that the music contained within the album's grooves encapsulates one of the greatest musical experiences of my life! For my taste, it's one of the greatest albums ever made and in a class of its own. Genius? Hell. Yes, I believe so. The album is utterly distinct from anything else coming from the various genres of 20th Century "popular" music. Next came "Laughing Stock": same effect (although I would slump for "Spirit Of Eden" out of the two). Mark Hollis's solo album?: Same effect. I only then back tracked to "Colour Of Spring" and, likewise, have since been hooked on that album as well. I do like the odd song prior to "Colour Of Spring" ("It's My Life", "Rene" and "Dum Dum Girl" to name but three), but, for me, the band's Royal streak began only with "Colour Of Spring" and not prior. What a development from the band's earlier work / style. A giant left us on 25th Feb. We, genuinely may not see his like again. RiP mate.

Sorry, but I think he gave everything and had no more to share with his public, he leaved what was essential, had succes, could live comfortably and didn’t want to fit the show buisness attempts to be on exposure, I think what he did is perfect and there is no need to listen more than his discography (that is sufficient). The only thing we can regret is that there is not enough live especially from the two last albums of talk talk.

Mr. Sledgehammer1972, you have a good eye and a sense of matching music with film. If I had known any better, I would have thought this was the actual official video for this song. As for Stephen Mackay, genius work...just sheer beauty in film making (it's not that easy to film birds in the wild). Even if they were birds raised by yourself, that is still a hard feat to illustrate with b/w film. This video was made for this song. I hope you found Mr. Mackay. It would be cool to hear what he thought of your editing to his work for this song. As for Mark Hollis, he will never grow tired in my heart. RIP, bud.
