I can't believe I liked this movie when I saw it as a kid. I was manipulated by the fake patriotism this movie tapped into. Don't get me wrong, I love India. But you don't need to bring down another country's culture (America) or a group of people (NRIs) to love your country and its people. A few years later, I realized that I hated the sanctimonious tone of this movie and its pro-Hindustani characters, who are ironically settled in America. Ankit had a good point to make at 2:43. That way, Swades is a way more better patriotic film that this. It truly shows SRK's character transformation and emphasizes that true patriotism is about willing to look within to try and improve and actually give back to society (instead of the shallow dialogue-baazi like shown at 2:40) because you truly love your people.

I don't like patriotism nor the current india. Its based on...well nothing, think about it. People say strength in diversity but jhaata nhi pata kya bol rahe hai and then ask why democracy doesn't work here. I mean...what is indian culture, based on hindu philosophy? But how many Indians really subscribe to it, so no not really...is it just tech support and curry and stuff? We don't have a single religion or faith, nor we have a single unifying language, nor a single ethnicity like han Chinese....so makes you think. It's only based on external dangers and dangers of colonialism that we joined hands I.e it's territorial...which is very unstable. It's not political. But keep your mind at rest, remove all bs and think about this
