Not sure if it'll work in the X600, but one trick I've pulled is the Wraith Stealth cooler will just barely fit into the X300W if you remove the plastic trim piece that goes on top. Provides better cooling than the little cooler that comes with it. Edit: I think this is the exact same mod that's talked about in this video.

My best solution for the X300 is the P12 slim fan. Taped with double sided tape to the top of the case with the metal slug from the wraith stealth. It's absolutely silent and keeps everything cool.

@@sfgoose2875 Thanks, I build mobile electrical systems for people and they are always looking for options to run directly from 12 and 24 volt batteries directly, even while charging. The voltage range can be significant, even just from 12 volt. I don't really understand why the computer board' vrms can't deal with a wider range of 12 volt ( 11 - 16 volt) just in general. It's all turning into much lower voltage to feed the components. Especially for M.2 on board storage and no spinning drives.

On the German end-customer retail market (as an example I can immediately check) about 50 % more for unbuffered ECC SO-DIMMs if you try to find modules with otherwise the same specs. But as such end customers we are currently in a bad time regarding the evil cycle of high DRAM and NAND chip prices due to data center booms globally. When the current AI bubble bursts it should get more relaxed again.

@@frankwong9486 I don't think I'll need the additional M.2, but certainly a decent idea. I'd go with a Sparkle A310 Eco. It's waaaaay cheaper, takes one only a single slot at half width and it's only 50W. NVENC isn't good enough compared to intel to make spending more on it worth it, if all you're doing is video encode/decode or desktop usage. (And for my usecase, it would still leave a single slot for the NIC)

My 8700G will do 8000 XMP profile in gear1, well, the FCLK is in gear2 but the MCLK/UCLK is in gear1 I really should try to find the highest FCLK, drop the RAM speed so they're all at gear1 with FCLK, and then tighten up the timings.

I was also plesantly surprised. But it makes sence, IO in normal desktop CPUS is always running and using 15-20 W constantly and x600 board also lacking chipset, which is another 10+W. With 7600x (with only igpu on 650 board) I had 45-50 W in idle desktop(Windows). Yes, I dont know whats is causing such an increase, if the SOC voltages jump too much with XMR presets or what. This 10 W "Penalty" is universal for Win and Linux, and no, this is honestly first machine, where I plan to use Linux predominantly, so I am still learning things.

Well this video sent me down a rabbit hole. Someone in a discord server I'm in said windows 10 was dying in a few months and for some reason I thought oh yeah EOL in October and forgot it's October '25 so it's 16 months away before I need to have my multi PC solution established since Microsoft still has a monopoly on PC gaming (yes, Linux is better but I'm not willing to put in that level of work for my entertainment). I am somewhat on the fence about actually making a purchase now anyway. I found out that AM4 still has some reasonably priced dual 8 lane boards so that I can plop in a 25GBE AIC and the 5700X3D is quite reasonably priced. It has me debating making an intermediate move so that I'm not held back by gaming on my X99 CPU and can move my X99 with 256GB of RDIMM over to NAS/LAB duty finally.

Desk mini is more portable

I have both the deskmini and deskmeet Intel versions and the size difference is significant. The deskmini is for the media/TV/plex. The deskmeet is for a smaller gaming pc 12100/rx6600 that I keep at work for slow days. I love both of them and have built a few of the am4 deskmini for friends (covid school pc for their kids). I love asrock for this no nonsense barebone platforms

Even if you include the power brick the Deskmini is almost 4 times smaller than the Deskmeet so which is better for you depends on your requirements.

The 120 watt power supply says a lot. No wasted energy at idle.

beyond annoyed with Asrock. reached out multiple times (>5) asking when the X600 is gonna be available in the US and was ignored each time. I just want to retire my 4650G X300 :(

The unit is delayed because Asrock needs to source an adequate supply of VGA ports for production. This is such brandnew technology that it’s hard to get them in volume.

Would be great to test a Deskmeet x600 to see if it can drive an Alveo M35A for an awesome plex/jellyfin server

Someone needs to build custom power supplies for these external graphics cards that don't make it look so janky and take up as much space as the computer itself.

I/O ports in DeskMini X600 is a joke compared to DeskMini B760. Nobody wants pcie gen. 5 m.2 but all would benefit from extra usb C 20gbit or alt mode.

Never buy the Intel version they make to much noise compared to AMD machines especially if you fit a stock Ryzen Cooler Inside. I'm rocking a A300 with a 3400g want to upgrade to x600 but they are still not available in my country.

The ultra sff are so excited for this thing. I know it only supports “65w” but the 65w have a ppt of 88w which is the same as the 7800x3d so does it work
