just additional info about the bandwidth: even though its connected through pcie 4.0x4, intel systems that have TB4 have limited host to device bandwidth, so this will get only around 3000MB/s but in D2H around 3600MB/s+. in amd systems theres no limitation, so you'll get full 40Gbps of bandwidth

Handheld with full-on PCIe slot on the bottom (with removable cover). eGPU just needs to be a regular ass GPU with a U-shaped extension fixed to a base of some sorts as a "dock".

Yeah, if you gonna ask that kind of question is gonna draw a lot of power and that small corn factor EGPU we’ll start struggle with the heat because if it’s small unit that means they have to increase the size more bigger just to increase the temperature down it’s not gonna happen putting a desktop gpu we have a lot of issues if you put it inside a small unit that’s why having the word M sent for something that is purposely used for a laptop unit with less power less performance but still gonna perform quite well for your handheld

I just did the standard Time Spy benchmark on my OneXPlayer OneXFly F1 Pro with the AMD 370 in it while connected to the OneXPlayer OneXGPU 2 (With the AMD 7800M) and my score was 13,176 using USB4 (OneXFly doesn’t have Oculink). I’m surprised that it was able to outperform this eGPU by such a hefty margin.

It’s not a GPU “alone” though. It comes with the GPU, The casing, the power supply, and thunderbolt 4 cables capable of the bandwidth needed to support the hardware. I don’t know why people constantly compare eGPU’s to desktop cards based on price alone. This serves an entire different function, includes very different components, but most importantly, ADDS MORE POWER TO SOMETHING YOU ALREADY OWN. These are for people who DON’T own desktops, but DO own a handheld. It’s much cheaper to get this and increase the performance of something you already have, than to build an entire PC to match the performance of this eGPU.

While I like a lot of aspects of this dock, it fails in a major way IMO: that giant power brick. While I get that the smaller housing for the eGPU makes it more appealing and easier to sell, the need for the separate brick is a huge usability and portability downgrade - on top of the overall higher failure rate of passively cooled power bricks vs. internal PSUs that can be cooled actively. All that being said, I like the use of a full desktop GPU configuration (though the "XT" moniker with 8GB of VRAM is a bit odd, but then the 7600 XT was also a rather silly nonsense configuration of the 7600 in the first place), and it's great to see a well performing USB4 implementation (though I'd want to see it tested on a USB4 rather than TB5 system just to confirm).

You need to upgrade your handheld if you want a really good performance by upgrading your handheld just get a EGPU because you’re gonna pay exact same price and then the EGPU will be a little bit better than upgrading your health because you can perform quite well that’s what I’m gonna do. I don’t need to upgrade the Lenovo Legion go 2 because it’s too expensive and it’s gonna have exact same price as EGPU product if I just get it around $500 a lot cheaper

Well I can tell you he used to reply to viewers in his early yrs when he tested different tech stuff and software for raspberry pi's but once he crossed that 500k subscription threshold he rarely reply's to anyone.
