Loved the video. I had a great childhood and have rafted a lot. Growing up I never did a trip like this. I now raft 50+ days a year. I can't imagine how much more I would be rafting now if I had taken trips like this as a child. You are a great parent. I hope there are more of you out there. And yes we all hate dams, but who doesn't like buliding them in a creek as a kid? Priceless

Thanks. Just got off the river again for my oldest last trip at home. It wasn't easy keeping these kids outdoors but absolutely worth it

Looks fun! Also - It is illegal to touch petroglyphs/pictographs and collect antlers.

Petroglyphs yes. Antlers we were torn on. We were going to call fish and game to get approval but decided to leave it in the canyon. My answer now is yes and yes

The camping on this trip is just SO sweet. Probably the best camping of any trip in Canyon Country, even better than the Grand Canyon.

Thanks for a great video. If your interested in learning more about Leave No Trace, happy to help. Check your permit: “keep side canyon streams and springs free of soap and other contaminants”

Already there. We have always had a rule that each child must bring me 5 pieces of garbage that is not ours before we can leave the canyon.

That is quite a “rainbow” of rafts you used for that trip. Very pretty.

You should not motor down the river. That 1st 25 miles is a subtle pleasure. Allow the current to move you,, granted at low water,, one mph. But time to look,, absolute silence,, time to read,, put your feet up.. In August, I did it in 11 days. Yes, a bit longer than I should have but the canoe required some fiberglass repair,,,, laughing,, often more rocks than water. 6 days and 5 nights is too fast. Take your time. Makes it all the better. The wind is every afternoon on the Green and Colorado,, Missouri too, The trick is,, pack everything the night before. When you rollout in the early, just pack the tents, bags, mats,, and eat and coffee on the river. You will be to your next campsite by noon,, before the winds begin. makes it so much easier.

I could not agree more especially because I was the one holding the throttle on that motor the whole time. I had a big group and they just couldn't get the time off that we needed to do the long trip. I took canoes down Stillwater canyon one time and it was one of my favorite trips. Thanks for the comment

@@travelwith6589 Deso/Gray 5 times now. Water levels 1,900 to 22,000 Deso/Gray is flat out a perfect trip for what you used it for,, kids,, new people, wives absolutely perfect. Well done. The one of interest to me,, I have done the dam and hauled out at the state park, however, water was unknown 8,000 to 12,000 ? That standing flipper wave at the bottom was 10 feet tall, I went right through the bottom of it,, canoe with full cover. Canoe could not have made it at 1,700, water thins out too fast. I agree Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons,, start right at the state park,, and have arranged a pick up at the Confluence,, wives, kids,, hiking boots all are perfect for those canyons.

We got lucky on the last flat water. The big rain storm really uped the flow down to green river. Not a lot to see down there but I have a goal to float every mile of the green. I couldn't leave those miles undone

@@travelwith6589 Me too. I have done the Green from Green River, Wyoming, down to the Confluence,, most of it twice, Deso/Gray a bunch of times. (I was on the river just a few days ahead of you last year.) I still want to do the entire thing, Green River Lakes down to Green River, Wyoming. That is a spring time only trip. The top 80 miles is just a gravel bar most of the year,, I understand decent #2 and # 3 in the spring runoff. If you like Stillwater,, you may also consider the 'Breaks' up in Montana, early July Fort Benton to the Kipp State Park 150 miles,, it is a hiking trip, you use a canoe to get there. Big afternoon winds,, only travel the first half of the day. Rattlesnakes,, no bugs. (Don't swat the rattlesnakes.) Befriend a crow (feed) to alert to snakes. Great hikes. And BLM concrete toilets (They improved the campsites for the Lewis and Clark Bi-centenial, 2005-6) If you do,, Ma's in Loma for dinner and pie,,, Best Burgers in Montana in Winifred. I assume you finished your river trip in Green River, Utah at Ray's tavern?
