The Dead almost always had great shows at AV. I can't say I was a this particular show, but I did see them 3 times there, lawn seats with the masses with a large group of friends. They always had the sound dialed in, and Phil's thunderboomers would make your eardrums flap all the way to the back of the lawn. It's just a sin that Jerry liked the H too much, he would have been with us for a few more years if he hadn't, but at least he shared with us what he could while he was here.

Start getting educated, it’s takes a long time, so many songs, so many different versions, era’s, up’s and down’s, I’ve been a serious dead head for 17 years and I still discover new jams and that’s why this band is pure Magic! 65-66/ 67-72 /73-79/80-83/84-89/90-95. My favorite years are 1970, 1974, 1977, 1980, and 1989. Even though the 90’s were very hit or miss with Jerry’s health/drug problems. But somehow one of the most majestic pieces of music ever played live period was from Jerry’s final show, before he checked out, on 7/9/95 is “So Many Roads” during the second set! Every time I hear it I want to cry and smile at the same time! Just be careful, they’ve been known to Steal Faces right off of people’s heads! But even with a stolen face there’s nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile!!! GDF FOR LIFE

Confession time. I was going to name my firstborn son, Robert Dylan Fischer Merena, after the two greatest geniuses of my time, Bob Dylan and Bobby Fischer. It didn't work out as I planned, but I still think Dylan was and is the greatest music writer of my age. My favorite Dylan song is Desolation Row. In my humble opinion, this version is the best I have ever heard. So what's the big confession? Sure, I heard of The Grateful Dead, but I never once listened to them until very recently. I can't say exactly why, but I didn't. Just another one of those things that you can only regret in retrospect. Those of you who were Dead Heads while I was living in ignorance are truly fortunate. Excuse me now, I have some catching up to do.
