There is a behind the lyrics breakdown for this one. Ryan doesn't dislike Luke because he signed he dislikes Luke because 1. Luke and Sony sued Upchurch to take the Outlaw video down so Ryan just took his name off of it. 2. The apology video had to be made because Luke and Sony tried to throw him under the bus and get him cancelled over that video 6 years later and 3. After Upchurch helped Luke get enough buzz to get signed he never spoke to Ryan again even though they live in the same county. I'd say he has his reasons. The thing with Luke Combs is that one of the main reason he got his deal was because of the song "Outlaw" and his music label daddies tried threatening Church to remove the video and Luke's name from the it. Then recently apologized for being in said video because he had a rebel flag sticker on his guitar.

He hasn't signed with anyone, HollerBoy Records is the record label Ryan created. The articles in the video real article that have been written falsely about him. The first one that says he signed is in regards to Chase Matthews, an artist that Ryan signed and helped out , that left Hollerboy to go mainstream. It was a pretty ugly situation. Ryan was pissed about the article being written to make it look like Ryan signed. Ryan has several videos about it. Also he posted a video were he explains the lyrics. It's not necessary a reaction but something for your own knowledge.

Church definitely did NOT sellout. That Warner Nashville article was from when Warner signed Chase Matthew, but the article (as evidenced by the headline alone) made it sound like they signed the whole "Hollerboy Records". Chase Matthews is a guy that got his start because of Upchurch. He signed him to his label Hollerboys Records, completely independent and in control of his own music and what happens to it, put out an album and then after everything Upchurch helped him with he decided to leave and go sign with a big city label where you have no control and say so about your music at all so then Upchurch pretty much disowned Chase and that's what the article in the beginning talks about.

It looked to me like they wanted it to give the impression Ryan sold out. Ryan said the lyric not to follow him means he wants everyone to be leaders not followers. Basically he discovered a country singer by the name of Chase Matthews they did a song together Broadway girls and Chase blew up off of it he signed a record deal with at Church's company to work on his label and then just last month signed a deal with Warner Brothers Nashville to be on their label and basically said screw church just like a certain other guy named Luke did

I Don't know upchurch personally, and most likely you don't either, but here is some food for thought. Have you ever considered there is a reason upchurch is always surrounded by and involved in tons of drama. His guitar player, Luke combs, Chase Matthews, that chick he dated then tried to destroy her career because she did something I can't remember, the list goes on. It is possible that upchurch just isn't a good person like his followers think. Maybe he is, but maybe he isn't. We don't know what happened behind the scenes and upchurch is very talented with words and could spin anything to benefit him, and most people he beefs with aren't anywhere on his level with words to even stand a chance to defend themselves, much less win

When the labels offer an artist huge amounts of money or expensive cars they are a loan that the artist has to pay back and that’s how they sucker them in!!! Chase Matthew went from being in control of 100% of his profits to now a percentage of his profits and at the mercy of the label as to when he releases music or does concerts!
