Desperados 3 Review - The Final Verdict

While its structural, environmental, and contextual inconsistencies hold Desperados 3 back, its ability to facilitate clever and crafty strategies in its best moments kept me coming back for more.

How can you work with game reviews and call this unique and a mix of Xcom and Hitman? This game is exactly like Commandos, Robin Hood, Shadow Tactics and previous Desperados games.

He complains about the quick save notification on the screen which is a option. If you don't like it you can switch it off. It pisses me off when people complain about optional features which they can choose whether or not they want to use.

"created something unique..." Clearly never played the recent Shadow Tactics which is basically based on the old Desperados games... Worth noting the saving won't even be an issue on PC. All review copies seem to have been on console

And the old Desperados games are based on the even older Commandos games. Desperados 3 is many things, but not unique.

This is the team that brought Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. You need to play that 1st. It should be cheaper now. This game requires strategies, patience, time and luck.

This game was a pleasant surprise. I loved it. I thought the story was great........ it's just that it didn't advance but between levels. 7 is low for this this game. I think it's an 8 to an 8.5

It is interesting to note that reviewers gush over Japanese rpg’s with their cartoony graphics and arena style combat. These games routinely get very high ratings. But for games like Desperados-3 reviewers search for ways to score less.

Maybe because that's what they prefer? I prefer JRPG's over Western RPG's, and I'm sure I'm not alone. But hey, I despise sports games and CoD, but those games seem to be the highest grossing games of all time. So to each his own maybe?

Daniel Booke I agree everyone has their own tastes. For me the only reviews that matter are those of people who purchase the game on STEAM. When a large enough population gives an opinion there, it is more definitive than any professional reviewer or KZbin reviewer.

Just watch the RPS video about this game, instead of this lame review... he has clearly not played these kind of game from the past, as he complains way to much about the gameplay elements which was always part of these kind of games. Lack of creativity is not the problem of the game, it is the lack of proper skills from the reviewer...

Can the save reminder be disabled? I think that would be very annoying to see every minute. I don't remember Shadow Tactics having that.

Not quite, but one of the characters did seem to grab few skills from that franchise. Both games are very systemic so it's a good match. I wouldn't mind a real-time tactics game in Dishonored world.

Draws similarities with Hitman and XCOM. Wtf is wrong with journalism these days? All the gameplay footage is of him sounding the alarm. JESUS CHRIST!!! What kind of reviewer is he? I finished the game without sounding the alarm. Thats how these games are meant to be played!
