Gaby makes an awful first impression on the housewives of Wisteria Lane and tries to fix it by being apologetic... One of the most touching moments of the show

I think it was supposed to be Mary Alice since she was the oldest living on the lane. When she passed, that role was taken over by Bree. If you look at the intro of the 1st ep, Mary Alice brags about being the perfect housewife, and so was Bree. They were the ones doing the dinner parties, barbacues, luncheons and etc

@@msrain1235 Lynette and Susan were useless in season 8, while Gaby and Bree (especially) handled the Alejandro situation without problems. Here is the top 3 of badass: 1. Karen: She took the blame for killing Alejandro, kept her husband in a freezer, looked the other way when she knew Felicia planned to frame Paul, 2. Bree: she immediately planned covering Alejabdro's murder and never lost her cool about it 3. Katherine: She killed her ex without blinking And I would ve added Edie has she not died

My absolute favorite scene of this show overall. I mean it really is the best scene of this show... it really captures the absolute essence of a "Desperate Housewife"... Gabrielle is trully desperate in this scene and she is unapologetically honest about it... the woman married a man she loved and gave up her life to be with him and she ended up alone in an empty house... "my husband is never home" is like the most heartbreaking line to be spoken by a housewife... not to mention the fact that she chuckles and smiles as she says it makes it even more heartbreaking..

I’ve had these moments recently where I realise I’ve done wrong and completely f***d up, and what Gabrielle did here was realise that the front she’s putting up doesn’t wash with anyone and she should have just been her complete authentic self. Sometimes it’s hard showing that vulnerability I think because you think that by doing that, people turn their back on you. I admit Gabrielle did need a kick up the A55, but what I like in this moment is her ability to realise she should have just been authentic, and THAT side of her went down a lot better.

I experienced something similar a few days ago when my sister and I got into an argument. I expressed a boundary that I wasn't willing to cross, but she kept pushing it before I eventually chose to physically leave the argument. My sister is not someone willing to admit she ever is ever in the wrong, so when she approached me some time after digesting our words, I was not expecting her to apologize and admit she pushed an issue that was sensitive to me when she knew she shouldn't have. The moment was a lot like this.

People talk about love, happiness, positive attitude but humility, humbleness these are just as powerful if not more. Love, happiness, positivity are active energies. Humbleness humility are passive energies. As an older man I've learned that saying sorry, admitting you're wrong, giving in, stop being stubborn, has profound positive affects. Nothing wrong with admitting weakness or the need for help.

I always thought Eva Longoria, the actress who plays Gaby, didnt have great acting skills, or better say she doesnt demonstrate that enough in the show, maybe because not many scenes in the show could allow to show Eva's great acting, as the role of Gaby, in my opinions, often appeals to the stereotypes: the hot-head latino, who is pretty but spoiled and materialistic, which no doubt has successfully created the humor and delight of the show and created a very adored character Gaby in the mind of the audience. In comparison, in my opinions, the other housewives including even Karen and Eddie are more complex and that's why I think the other actresses could have more chances to demonstrate their skills, instead of only emphasizing on the physical appearance of the actresses. But the scene here especially the moment when Eva cant hold her tears does speak aloud Eva's ability to perform the character's psychological complication.

I agree completely, Eva was way better than the show allowed her to be. They always relied on her for the comedic storylines, which she always excelled in. But when they actually did give her something more to work with she was brilliant. For example the Lily storyline, it was played for laughs for almost half a season and then when they took Lily away, Eva broke everyone’s hearts in that scene.
@SmoothCinnamonX
@SmoothCinnamonX 3 жыл бұрын
I think the scenes where she is smothering her kids allow Eva to shine a lot! Whether it is her tucking in Juanita for the night, or crying after Grace gets taken away , I think that whole storyline brought out some great dramatic scenes in Eva. She shows a lot of tenderness as a mom.

It’s out of character. Gaby was actually very respectful and supportive of her friends. She was diplomatic and remained composed. Sure she liked to show off but she often managed to pull it off jokingly or at least more subtly than that, now she’s just a caricature of herself, shallow and parodic. Marc Cherry almost completely lost touch with the essence of his characters as the show went on…
