I’m in total support of people living in RVs. They aren’t hurting anyone. I’m more personally concerned about my rent going up in NJ due to the recent influx of NYC residents moving into my neighborhood. My neighborhood might look inexpensive compared to rent prices in NYC but as a longtime resident of NJ this is causing my rent to increase by over $500/month in the last 2 years alone (for reference I pay $3,500 for a 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom condo and I have just been told that it will be increased by another $200/month). This problem has definitely expanded beyond the borders of NYC. I sincerely hope that something can be done to make housing not just more available but more affordable for us all.

@juneallen4926, actually in some places the elderly, even with those so-called "discounts/assistance" are still paying upwards of $1,000/mo for an apartment and for some elderly folks, that's about all they receive in SS payments so unless they have pensions or other aid, they're really stuck. Just like some of the other users stated in this thread. My beloved Mother had worked since she was 16, non-stop. She became disabled in her latter years which was shortly before she'd retire. She only received ~$1,600 from SS but she also had pensions from the other jobs she worked over her lifetime so that helped her BUT her husband was also still working full time and paying on a mortgage. He was nearing 80 yrs old and became ill and passed away. I then took care of her the last 4 yrs of her life. It was just surprising to me that she received so little SS, that so many Seniors do.... To think that they've been taking that $$ from you for, 30, 40, 50+ yrs and then for maybe 10-20, they begin metering it out to you in small amounts, the only real huge expense is medical care which is due in part to the outrageous and out of control costs of "healthcare." I remember a lousy Doctor telling me when I was younger, that my bill would've been much higher IF I had insurance.... So he was admitting that healthcare providers OVERCHARGE insurance companies which makes insurance less affordable/practical if you don't use it frequently.

Rentals are becoming boring, and just paying half your income to go home and mindlessly scroll... And can go wherever you want, whenever you want in a van. What's the problem? Sticks and bricks homes are becoming unnecessary with modern technology tbh. And the ridiculous rent cost makes it an easy choice imo. There's plenty of great heaters, compost toilets, the list goes on for comfort nowadays. There's no reason why we should be getting stuck on one idea of living quarters all of a sudden. @@gugy68 I said "These Guy" and because of the clean and respectable way they are treating there neighbors. If they are committing crimes and making a mess and all drugged out then they obviously need to go. You have to encourage the right behavior somehow. Basic Living should not be this difficult to afford here in the US. (I love my country) but It feels like no matter what we do, it doesn't matter, you'll barely be able to afford your rent, you feel worthless, it has gotten so out of control. ~Serious question: HOW was our country allowed to get THIS bad? How is Nothing being done about it? It's not being talked about, it's not being addressed. This is the most crucial issue that needs to be addressed right now if we want to keep our society from collapsing. This obsession with achieving Perpetual growth is impossible. Yet our country acts like perpetual growth is a completely reasonable goal. There is no way anything can function like that. A huge majority of the population is struggling to even afford Rent.. All of this of course also affects small town businesses because the rent on these shops has increased too. Our country is pretty much requiring everyone to find ways to increase their income but our country isn't providing any options for a huge % of our population. Remember this is just so people could keep up with the increased cost of basic living. With the way our society is structured all of this is completely impossible. It's not possible for us to live in a system where everybody can be wealthy. So lots of store fronts are becoming vacant. Average people cannot afford basic rent. There is absolutely no help for our citizens who are now stuck in poverty.. (and worst of all, we have to wake up everyday and see that our country is completely ignoring that any of this is happening. The media just acts like none of this is going on. They just continue to show us clips on the news and statistics in the media about "How much our economy is thriving")

The 8 to 10 million people that have entered the country illegally have increased demand for cheap housing, so the price has gone up. Economics 101. It's not HOW it was allowed to get this bad. It was deliberately made this bad by the democrats, to demoralize the hard working, freedom loving CITIZENS , and to ultimately make them dependent on the state.

@@HeatherWP can't afford to move where it's cheaper? when there's people here who get up and work for it?
@HeatherWP2 ай бұрын
@@therealhan21 yes there are many working people who can’t afford to move. They are already struggling with rent prices and can’t afford the cost of the typical 1st month +1-1.5 months security deposit on a new place to rent + moving costs. It doesn’t matter if the next place is cheaper or not especially if it’s a long distance (more expensive) move. There are also people on fixed incomes who are unable to work. As well as many people who are working that simply don’t have enough options for making a higher wage. If a higher wage was available to them I’m sure they have already taken it, or even a second and third job and still can’t afford the rising prices. The cost of housing is simply outpacing the wages right now. Inflation doesn’t help anything either. Everything has happened too quickly for most people to even contemplate planning for a move. There’s a reason for why that red wave.
