I was a fetanyl addict for over 10 years. Happened by accident after a broken elbow surgery in high school. I graduated high school an addict. The pills became too expensive so i switched to powder. My entire 20's was wasted. Thankfully i decided to get professional help, and my family went all in for me. In May of this year, I'll be sober for 7 years. I have a beautiful son, was able to take over the family business, and life honestly couldn't get any better. I don't consider myself to be any better than these guys. I'm just one of the lucky ones.

My husband’s cousin got hooked on OxyContin. He was set to go pro for baseball too and was injured hence the meds. He is clean now with a family of his own, but we all had things stolen at times to fund his habit. At my brother-in-law’s wedding he stole some of their gifts too. Mostly the gift cards and money in envelopes. The family stuck by him though and he was in and out of rehab a few times until finally done. They had to put locks on so many things and someone pretty much was always with him to watch him. Mostly when it got REALLY bad. Glad he is so much better now, a nice guy.

I'm in SW FL, it's the same here. 7-8 yrs ago we purchased our home in a nice area, amazing school systems. Now the local highschool is on lockdown more than they are in normal school mode, there is a jail inside the school. My kids used to walk every evening ride their bikes roller skates ECT, they can't walk out front without a homeless person or meth addict chasing them. And here's how it works we can't afford to buy another home in a different area, and even if we could it would just be the same in a few years. We live in a city that was known for being the "rich" city it was very difficult to live here being a younger couple with kids but we made it work now it's turned into meth City and your not safe anymore. Yeah Andrew Callaghan from Channel 5 just put out a video about the drug problem in Philly. He basically said the same thing. One part of a terrible neighborhood had already been bought up and gentrified... and he thinks that's the point. The city lets this happen because want the property values to go down so they can buy everything as cheap as possible and later gentrify the whole area. Then they'll round up all these people and throw them in jail eventually.

I love the part where the lady in the truck with the dogs says "being homeless is never easy" etc. Homelessness in the bigger cities has skyrocketed since the pandemic plus the fentanyl crisis. Being homeless was the hardest job that I ever had.
@waterox738 ай бұрын
@OlWhtWmn I've been there too, due to domestic violence. People don't know how harsh the sun and weather can be on your skin and, that simply finding a safe, shady spot to sit in can be an arduous yet necessary part of every day, especially if you're a woman you need to be really careful. I had a pit bull mix dog at the time too, so I was constantly refilling water bottles at any fountain I could find for him and myself and that was a chore. Most of America is just 1 paycheck away from the streets so folks, most specifically police, really need to be sensitive instead of judgmental. We're on the brink of societal collapse and it's going to get worse.

Zero critical thinking involved. I'm not advocating for the "hustle" mindset of a drug addict - but at one time, us heroin addicts were actually smart. I got clean and learned how to use that same hustle mentality I had to go get heroin and use it for the better. Use it and apply it to your health, fitness, education. It can be done. If you have no self respect-everything you do, the activities you engage in, hurt you. Self respect, self love is everything man. This is just pathetic. I run a small practice in Denver... I think what ppl don't see with cities that have larger harm reduction efforts, are all the free medical assistance that goes on, and all the ppl that get clean. Needles have alwaysss been free-- for those thinking these kits aren't good-- but they also often contain narcan and sanitation that reduces city costs for ER visits due to infection and first responders spraying narcan. Imo, if ppl want to make an impact, they can start with getting the archaic regulation and restriction off of Methadone ASAP so that fentanyl users can be started at their next dr visit (which for many of these folks, will be the hospital). Let's stop telling doctors that can prescribe fentanyl and oxy that they cannot also prescribe treatment for the dependence caused by these drugs, bc suboxin just doesn't cut it for a lot of these ppl out here. I feel for you though trying to get dealers out of your city... it is rough in CO right now for sure... but addicts will always be addicts without an effective medical treatment, anyone suffering deserves that effort.

I'm a recovering heroin addict living in Utah but was born and raised in Colfax, Ca. so it breaks my heart to see what's happened to San Francisco. I've been homeless, slept behind dumpsters, in storage sheds, park bathrooms, tents in the woods, etc, and all I cared about was hustling for money for more drugs. I lost my kids, ended up with 12 felonies pled down to 4 and a dozen misdemeanors and have been in jail 7 times but the threat of going to prison scares me clean and I found God and put my life back together. I can't imagine still living that life! And to see these people stuck in the endless loop of misery rather than getting treatment hurts my heart. If the SF government really wanted to help them they would get them all into treatment for free and help them to start their lives over. What they're doing now is not helping at all, it's perpetuating the problem! Salt Lake city has a huge Fentanyl problem as well, but it looks like a playground compared to this dumpster fire... 3 1/2 months clean after a 7 year stint of heroin use every single day until the Heroin dried up and after 6 or 7 months of fentanyl use I had lung issues, health problems out the wazoo, and had dropped to 138 lbs... After wishing to be clean for years but terrified of being sick and it being fairly easy to just keep going, I COULD NOT do it anymore. My wife and I checked into rehabs (which by the way was an absolute nightmare for my wife because she wasn't sent anywhere for committing a crime and only had Medicaid) and haven't looked back since. Thank God I had the V.A. hospital to help me they are the absolute best and NOT ONCE made me feel like I was any less of a person than they were. (My wife however, went through some horrific stuff... I'm so proud of her sticking it out and not relapsing despite the messed up things the detox center and rehab she went to (Beecon Recovery Services in Brigham City U.T.) put her through. In summary the country needs to look at my experience with the V.A. and model our recovery services after a Veterans options. I paid 0$ get Suboxone free of charge, I didn't have to worry about anything when it came to getting clean. They even point you in the direction of options for emergency free dental, and offer housing assistance to homeless Vets while others wait a year or more. Getting help should be the most easy thing in the world or drug addicts are not going to follow through. I believe it is so difficult for the average joe to get help because it all boils down to profits and free help doesn't make profits... And that is the sad truth I'm afraid, and it is truly sad.

My fiancé and I were driving home to Canada from Oceanside, CA in 2022, and we unfortunately had to spend the night in San Fran. I didn’t know much about the city at the time, but I remember driving to the hotel and being in disbelief. We stayed in a very nice hotel (paid $300 CAN for one night) but it was surrounded by homeless and drug activity. We left the room to pick up dinner down the street and I remember actually fearing for my life. We stayed in the rest of the night. It was so bad. We could hear the activity from 5 stories up in our room, and the view was just of an alley full of homeless. And to top it all off, when we were filling up with gas the next morning, there was a man taking a dump on the street. I will NEVER go back.

I think there are actually elites who have gotten to the point they just have evil in their hearts. There's no other explanation or excuse for their actions. I can rationalize why this is happening maybe they want to protect the migrants or push a political ideology. In the end it's evil they are the enemies to humanity. As soon as Americans realize this fact it will change and conversations about streetlights will be common. The reason this hasn't happened yet is because America is so huge. I guess I have too much faith in people’s genuine understanding of and allegiance to the idea of a free society in the fashion designed by the Founding Fathers and laid out in our founding documents such as the Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc. The left has so perfectly followed the map of how to re-form societal thinking on a mass scale from Soviet Communist design planning and effectively devalued the efforts to produce highly effective K-12 education of factual history such that factual history is now considered “misinformation” in many/most of publicly funded schools and/or educational institutions.
