Wonderful video! Being that I'm trapped in Seward Alaska I cannot for the life of me think of anywhere I'd rather be trapped than La Paz. You are probably in the 70's and I shoveled ice off of the dock this afternoon! Best to you and thanks for sharing your adventure!

Thanks! We certainly have much to be thankful for, just being able to be on our boat. We very much enjoyed our time in La Paz, and in a way it was hard to leave! There are definitely worse places to be trapped. 😉 But we'd never planned on spending anywhere near that much time there, so we're thrilled to finally be exploring new places. Stay warm!

So beautiful! It makes me long so much for the summer when my sailing also can start. I will check for a BBQ on the pushpit like you have, It look awesome! /Maria, Sweden

We love our BBQ! When it's hot, it can be difficult to cook down in the galley. So glad you enjoyed our video, and we hope you get out on the water this summer!

Hey guys. I’m curious about your opinion regarding the local marinas in La Paz. I’m thinking about moving my boat there later this year for 6 months or so, over the holidays, and into 2022. Which one would you recommend? Any tricks to getting a good deal on a long term slip for a 44’ vessel? Thanks for your time to answer my questions. Hope all is well. It’s blowing non-stop in CI. Really getting tired of this crazy wind. Ugh.

Hey there! Great to hear from you! Ahhh...which marina in La Paz? Each has its pros and cons. Marina de La Paz (MDLP) is probably the best from a money perspective - less expensive than the more chi-chi ones like Palmira and Costa Baja, plus its right in the heart of the city so everything you need is within walking distance. And it's the hub of activities among the cruiser community - the Club Cruceros clubhouse is there, they have cruiser coffees every morning, etc. (Unfortunately most of that is closed down right now due to the pandemic, but it will come back at some point.) We started out at Marina Costa Baja, but quickly moved to MDLP and stayed there for most of our pre-pandemic time in La Paz. It was great as all of our cruiser friends were there! It's not quite as nice as the others, but the convenience factor was the selling point for us. And they are SUPER easy to work with there! We moved the boat to Marina Palmira for the summer, because it's got more hurricane protection and we were able to have our boat looked after by La Paz Cruiser's Supply, which is located at Marina Palmira. It's more expensive, and I'll be honest - we had some issues with the management. But it's a very lovely marina, and more removed from the town, which was better for the pandemic. Plus it has two pools you can use, which was great during the late-summer heat! It's not so close to things - you have to either walk a bit further or grab an Uber (which is super easy there). Marina Costa Baja is the nicest, most upscale of the marinas, and probably the most safe during a pandemic as it's quite a ways out of town, but it's also the least convenient - they have a shuttle into town but the times weren't convenient for us. And sometimes it's hard to get an Uber to come all that way out. But it's also a safer bet if you're going to leave the boat there for hurricane season. So there's my La Paz marina primer! 😀
