The best remedy is hot water. Or hot lemon tea. Small sips to wash off the oil. Capsaicin is an oil that sticks to your tongue, which prolongs the pain. Oil melts off with hot water.

There's a little irritating feeling with drinking hot water when you're already in pain, but if you want the fastest remedy, definitely hot water--sip slowly to avoid burning your tongue. It should be hot enough to melt the oils that have soaked into your porous tongue. Even better if it's just hot enough that you can swish the water around a bit if your whole mouth is on fire.
