Conductor Raymond 'Artie' Shaw. The late Raymond "Artie" Shaw was the first musician to conduct Desperadoes Steel Orchestra at their 1972 performance for Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

This LP by Desperadoes Steel Orchestra was recorded at NYC in 1969. The pans were tuned by James "Bassman" Jackman. I believe the 3rd piece is "Naila Waltz" not "Waltz of the Flowers." Shout out to Mr. Shaw, Charlo, Gill, Rupert, Mickey, Gunga, Reddock, Panther, Prince, Buffy, Sadman, Panka, Herbert, Spike and Nick. Tenors: Kenwyn, Beans, Jerry and Robert. Double Tenors: Belt, Mathead and Borneo. Seconds: Andrew, Tash, P'Jue and Lil Jack. Tenor Bass: Dust and Mervyn. Bass: Franklyn and Mack. Percussion: Wilby and Ocean. Capt: Georgie.

I heard that Shaw was late and when he heard them he stood outside on the steps and cried. I think it was his first time in NY and he got lost
