Can we talk about how actual voice acting, like what Steve Carell does for Gru or like literally any character Alan Tudyk does, is like a dying art. Like my family used to be so impressed with me because I could figure out voice actors even when they didn’t sound like themselves, without seeing the credits. Now it’s like they don’t even have to voice act. You just know what already famous celeb it is because they just use their normal voice, and end up getting paid more than the actual voice actors who have been forced into side character roles. Steve Carrell actually studied and worked on Gru with his kids. He did like a bunch of accents to see which one they thought was the most funny and that’s what he ended up using. It’s sad that approach is becoming obsolete.

This has always been a conflicting viewpoint of mine honestly. On the one hand it's always AMAZING to hear a VA change their entire voice and persona on a dime. I use Mark Hamill as my example. If you saw Star Wars you know his voice. If you like Batman you like his Joker. If you're an Avatar fan you know his Fire Lord Ozi. All 3 voices are unique and distinct and its amazing! Then on the other hand you have people with unique voices like Dante Basco. His voice was PERFECT for Prince Zuko, anyone else wouldn't have had the same effect with the voice portrayal. Yet he is just talking, same when he plays Jake in American Dragon. Yet it works. Even the voice of Fry from Futureama is using his talking voice. On the one hand I do miss the "people of 1000 voices" but I'm also glad to hear genuine unique voices adding to animated worlds. I just wish they could live together instead of a studio going "we have a movie about a pair of Italian brothers? Get Chris Pratt he's famous"
@Luscious_Nature5 ай бұрын
@@Lord0fHunger I see what you mean. Still everyone you listed studied their character. Like Dante not only studied Zuko, he studied the fighting style used for firebending and emphasized his anger and breath during fight scenes. The guy who voices Fry also voices an array of other characters and changes up his voice from Fry. Similar to Alex Hirsch, Tara Strong, and John DiMaggio. They actually study character design and make it work with their voice. I love all Disney Renaissance films, but I blame them for blurring the art form lol. We don’t need a films with people performing characters like Mel Gibson’s John Smith.

tthe minions unironically rock. little chaos gremlins that never get openly malicious. the bit in the trailer for the new one where the one is stuck in a vending machine and another throws a shaken up soda can in and it explodes always gets me. the guy who voices them, Pierre Coffin (also director of the first three and the first minions movie), is a supremely talented voice actor, conveys so much with no actual text. the memes of the minions and the actual activities of the minions are completely different enterprises.

Zootopia blows Despicable Me out of the water. The characters are interesting and well-developed, the storyline is engaging, and the animation is top-notch. And don't even get me started on the humor. It's clever, witty, and genuinely funny. Zootopia is a masterpiece, plain and simple. Despicable Me ain't got nothin' on it, baby.

This was a guy who listened to death metal and was super into that scene and lifestyle so I was very confused. He saw the look on my face and just said "Trust me, it's good and not just for kids" . The dude was 100% correct. Instant classic. I actually didn't even know who did the voice for Gru until about halfway thru because his accent is really well done ~

Edith . Margo... and Agnes Grandma names @10:00 Margo is way too dang sassy for growing up in the orphanage environment.
@tsifirakiehl42503 ай бұрын
I think the girls were deliberately given unpopular names to lower the odds of kids getting made fun of for having the same names as them. If they’d been Sophie, Bella, and Olivia, for example, little girls all across the country would suddenly have found their names permanently associated with this movie, and likely grown to resent it. Any kids named Margo, Edith, or Agnes, however, were probably already getting teased for having old lady names, so having popular movie characters associated with the names freshens them up and makes them sound slightly less uncool-not to mention that there weren’t very many kids with those names anyway.
