I live in the south of the Netherlands just above Eindhoven, same weather here. Weather has actually no real effect on my mood, I actually like the differences in seasons, nature slows down now and gets reborn again in spring . I really love the dynamics of nature.

Thank you for sharing. And good point to appreciate the differences of the seasons! 🚲🫶

It's nice to know that there are others out there who ride in less than the best weather. Personally, I'm not thrilled about riding in the cold but, the alternative is to stay inside. Can't bring myself to do that. Where I'm from, Winter is a time of hybernation for most riders so, it's a nice change to meet people out on the road. Enjoyed the video.

Genau! Es ist Grau hier bei uns... in Kalifornien! 🌞 Leider bin Ich gerade erkältet, an mein Geburtstag, sogar! Keep showing us all your rides, it is fun to see Deutschland.

Sogar in Kalifornien!? Unmöglich. Danke und gute Besserung. Erkältung ist nervig. Get well soon!

Feeling the same way here in the north east of England regarding the weather..

It’s cold & colorless here too in Southern California. Sunset is early too (4:40pm, roughly)

Thanks for sharing, I would have expected that in California there would also be sun and warm temperatures around Christmas. You never know..

I am in the UK and the weather is cold, grey and generally miserable at the moment. It doesn't do my state of mind any favours but I have managed to get out for a few rides recently, and they do generally help

Yes I did a short ride on a new bike in the cold 4 degrees a few days back. Only stayed out an hour :) I decided to buy a new Ebike after just buying the Brompton G Line - it's the E160 RSX EMTB from Whyte - great having a bit of electric assistance up the steep hills where I live.

And at the end after I had already dropped the message above... In the UK, I usually hibernate from Dec to Feb - sometime a motorbike ride or two in January as we can have some bright dry days. Plus you can use the downtime of winter to plan your year ahead... Get ahead of the game with thoughts on travel, holidays, life in general, interests, career, play some video games, do a bit of digital art, make videos, try new food ideas.

Very good point! Thanks for sharing your take on this. I personally can't fully go without exercise outside, but maybe the focus should be shifted.

Here in the south of UK it's generally cold(ish), damp, grey and miserable. In the past, I've found it's definitely worth trying to keep riding through winter, as not only do you feel better after each ride, but when you hit the hills next Spring, your legs will thank you for the winter training! Your Surly looks like a great bike and comfortable too. I don't have a Rohloff hub, but I have a bike with a Shimano Alfine 11 speed rear hub and a belt drive. The Alfine might not be as bullet-proof as a Rohloff, but it's a lot cheaper and still has a good range of gears. I also think it looks nicer (sleeker shifting mechanism) and it has (so far!) worked really well. I love the belt drive as it's low maintenance, smooth, quiet and most of all... CLEAN!

Thanks for sharing! Interesting take on the Alfine 11. I find it really hard to compare the two gear hubs. In my opinion they are both great for their certain use cases. The Alfine is way more affordable, has sleaker design, and is quieter. The Rohloff has proven (almost) indestructible, has a wider gear range, and a higher mechanical efficiency ("Wirkungsgrad"). For me, the Rohloff was also a clear choice because of the much wider chainline. The Alfine 11 has a quite narrow chain line and I am not sure whether my build would still be possible (wide tires, wide chain stays, chainring size limit, ...) with Alfine 11. I would also love to try out a belt drive. My old frame for this bike was belt drive-ready and one day I will probably set it up with an Alfine 11 and belt drive as a city and touring bike. Also on my "less is more" bike a silver Alfine 11 would be awesome.

Cold and wet here in the UK too, Vitamin D daily helps for mood. Also learn to appreciate the cooler weather which is easier to sleep through and makes us feel cosy when at home. I actually enjoy this kind of weather, the heat of summer can be too harsh at times!

Thanks for pointing out the positive things that can be seen in this kind of weather! I agree.

I'm far from your place, here in Manila it's also a bit cloudy and we also have early sunset this season. It's early to get dark. Ride safe 💯👍

Nice video. What size Bridge Club did you get? And how tall are you? I’m planning on buying one, but not sure whether M or L will be best for my size.
@cycgeist11 күн бұрын
Thank you. It‘s the XL. I have a 91 cm PBH. That‘s the measure I would mostly look into. I still could have gone for L probably (the top tube is quite long) but I am happy. Also I think XL looks awesome with the almost horizontal top tube. I am by far no expert on bicycle frame geometry. Again, I recommend to start with your PBH as the most important measure. (to avoid an „ouch“ moment on a frame that is too large) from there many things can be decided later with stem height and length, handlebar, and so on.
