After 25 videos about anomorphisim... THANK YOU! Because of your simple and direct explanation I know I can get the lens for my Pixel Phone using Filmic Pro to save the file already desqueezed!

can you import a video shot on say a dpi pocket 2 to filmic pro or moment app. I am using a pocket 2 with the anamorphic lens but want to do all my editing on my iPhone 12
@DirkJanFotografie3 жыл бұрын
Filmic Pro and Moment Pro Camera are really for recording videos and not for editing. Not sure if you can import footage from the DJI Pocket 2 to the iPhone directly but if you can, I recommend LumaFusion for editing. It also allows you to change the dimensions if you need to correct for anamorphic footage.

Can you hide the display on moment app or filmic pro? I know that filmic has clean hdmi out, but iOS HDMI connector only does 1080 and not 4K. I want to show my desqueezed anamorphic clean display in 4K for livestream.
@DirkJanFotografie3 жыл бұрын
Great question! Unfortunately, you cannot hide the interface in the Pro Camera App by Moment.

That was nicely explained. I am on Linux so I use open source software. I was wondering what the correct resolution is. Thanks again.

Is there a way to do it (desqueeze) in LumaFusion app???
@DirkJanFotografie5 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I don't have any experience with that app so I don't know...

DO IT COME OUT OF FILMIC PRO WITH BLACK BARS MY FRIEND OR DO YOU HAVE TO DO THAT IN POST ???
@DirkJanFotografie3 жыл бұрын
The lens doesn't add the black bars and just changed the aspect ratio. You can add the black bars in post-production by working on a canvas that's larger than the video. If you start a project at 16:9, you can get the black bars!

Hi Dirk, Does the desqueezing work better in-app or would you recommend a software. Or is it more or less the same. Thanks
@DirkJanFotografie5 жыл бұрын
Great question and sorry for the slow reply! I haven't done any thorough testing but in general, it depends on whether you want to shoot film or photos. For film: I find that desqueezing in post works a bit better. I've had some issues with the app where automatic desqueezing caused the files to become super unsharp in low light situations while this doesn't happen with a non-desqueezed file. Clearly, it's not the phone itself but the app. Not sure if that's been fixed by now though. For photos: desqueezing them in the app also applies a crop to match the 2.4:1 aspect ration for Anamorphic film. When you desqueeze them in post, you'll get something that's very close to a 16:9 aspect ratio (15.96:9 to be exact) which you then can crop how you like it, if you want to. Also, desqueezing is not possible for RAW files. For both: desqueezing in the app can save some time and effort if you're in a hurry. Plus, I haven't found a great app on my phone yet that allows me to desqueeze photos by stretching the width a given amount rather than doing it purely on visuals and getting it not 100% perfect. If I want to work 100% on my phone or iPad, I might want to desqueeze while shooting rather than wait for me to get to my computer for a proper desqueeze.

Nice content mate! I have had some issues to desqueeze photos in Moment App. If you shot in RAW, the image does not desqueeze, then you have to import a Image for another App (Desqueeze Pro) But the proportions doesn't make sense... Looks like the JPG anamorphic photo took from the Moment App is more horizontal. If you desqueeze in the program using 133%100 the image doesn't have the same proportion at all. And if you after this use the right pixels proportion 2554x1080. The image distort....
@DirkJanFotografie6 жыл бұрын
When you use the Moment app and shoot in RAW the image is saved straight from the camera sensor without any edits. Cropping, desqueezing, digital zoom is all part of processing an image after the sensor has recorded it and thus not saved with RAW files. I also tried Desqueeze on my iPhone (not the pro version) and found it a weird app to use (read: I didn't take the time to learn is and to look up the needed pixel sizes) so I desqueeze my images on a computer in Photoshop (make the width of the canvas 133% bigger than your photo, turn photo into a smart object and then transform it to fit the canvas by stretching the width 133%). This will result in a photo that comes close to a 16:9 ratio instead of 2.40:1 ratio. That's because photos on your phone are 4:3 by default. If you shoot in heif it does save a desqueezed photo, but that's cropped at the same time as well to reach a roughly 2.33:1 aspect ratio to come closer to the cinematic video look. Videos that are stretched 133% are roughly 2.40:1 because those are already 16:9 by default and thus are already "cropped" at the top and bottom, compared to your image sensor's aspect ratio and photos.
