I really appreciate you and your channel. I'm colorblind (LOL!) so I can't say which video I liked better. I have an Apple 12 Pro and a mid-range Samsung A54. I am getting to know both of these phones, especially the iPhone becasue I am an Android/PC girl. Your videos are very helpful! I'm not sure if it's on the s23, but the s24 native camera app does have anamorphic desqueeze built in, under Camera Settings > Camera Assistant > Anamorphic Lens Correction. You can toggle between off, 1.33, and 1.55. Very useful for these lenses! Anyways, thank you for all of the great videos, always looking forward to them!

I found you very recently on YT and your content is amazing. Thank you so much. I've read on Amazon reviews that for Samsung 24 Ultra when used with the Hohem Gimbal M6 and the heavy Freewell lenses, it will require counter weights to balance the gimbal. I didn't see you use counter weights. Can you help me decide whether it's a good idea to buy the lenses and still be able to use the gimbal without the risk to break it or make it malfunctioning? I've also searched for counter weights for Hohem but didn't find any. If I need to buy only one lens for cinematic effect, which one would you recommend? Thank you in advance.

Yes these lenses are heavy. I would use 3 in 1 gimbal to be safe. I only used light lenses with Hohem gimbal. For cinematic look, anamorphic lens is good

I am very interested in how you would review rigs for phones. There are so many now, some like scaffolding you attach things to or more specifically grips that act as a rig would like this Shiftcam Progrip which charges while you film. Would you do a review that centres around this type of accessory? Replacements in someways for rigs but give stability to the phone. I like the look of the Shiftcamp Progrip better than rigs. But I would imagine many companies are entering this field.

I bought a Freewell case, 1.33x anamorphic lens with the filter set you have shown here. I like the set, but not easy to install the lens on the case, because it is made in such a way, but without the phone is easy to mount and then insert the phone. I have the new S24 Ultra. The one thing did not like, is that the Lens wobbles and loses fit and moves if you want to put on a threaded filter, the lens moves. it is good if you take a video on a tripod. The quality looks good, but I bought Neweer filter sets with a Cage like a small rig has. I have a universal small right cage. I like cage with 2 handles because moving a phone in any position is easy and steady. All those lens companies either produce lenses with threads or a mount that doesn't move the lens.

I had Moment’s Tele lens and it didn’t sit properly over my iPhone 13 Pro Max and distorted the view so had to return them. The return process was a nightmare. Any insight on Sandmarc lens and would Sherpa lens be compatible with current iPhone 13 Max? iPhone showed better but guess I might be bias. Thanks for another a great review.

Hello, I would like to know about the possibility of simultaneously using ND, CPL, SMIST1/4, and other filters in the FREEWELL SHERPA system for iPhone 15. I have watched many videos of people reviewing this system and carefully studied the manufacturer's website, but nowhere is there extremely important information. Everyone says that you can use, for example, a VND filter or a permanent ND filter with the Anamorphic 1.33 lens, as well as a CPL filter and others. Good! However, everyone needs to understand whether ND, CPL, SMIST1/4, and other filters can be used simultaneously on one lens in various combinations, as this is critically important for any shooting. For example, when making videos of the city or nature in high lighting conditions, I need to use an ND or VND filter to reduce the shutter speed, but I also need to remove glare from the surfaces of plant leaves or from the surfaces of cars, water, windows, etc., and I need to use a CPL filter. As you understand, these filters are meaningless separately and can be used, but only in rare cases. I would appreciate clarification on this aspect, as it significantly affects the functionality of the entire system and gives a clear answer whether it's worth buying or it will be money thrown to the wind.

Yes I completely understand what you mean as that is what I normally do with my Sony camera and Freewell filters. Unfortunately smartphones are limited so they didn’t make this possible… you can only use 1 filter at a time… hopefully down the road they will create something interchangeable

Well, the best quality is definitely Freewell hands down…. But the lenses are a bit heavy. Moment lenses are OK too and very lights.

CPL filter or polarizer is to remove reflection… when it comes to first good lens it really depends what you film. do you film city do you film yourself in vlogs? Think of the lens you don’t have and you would most likely use the most

I use Sandmarc lenses but can't recommend their customer service. The Lenses are great quality and work great. I have so many though that I'm now stuck in their ecosystem. I'm not going to splurge on a new system...especially since I don't use them that often. I will tell you though that I can use them with my 14 Pro Max and both the DJI Osmo 6 and the Hohem M6 gimbals without an issue. They balance perfectly with no counterweights.

Another problem is the kens mount. They’re not all the same. ‘Standard” mounts for smartphones and some other small cameras, is 17mm and 37mm screw mounts. Moment, which has been popular for years, has their bayonet mount. But no other mount can be used at this time with anything other than their own cases, which can be a problem. I’m using the Beastcage, which comes with adapters for 17mm, 37mm and Moment bayonet. This is a very solid, well known cage. But no other lenses fit yet. So research what you’re buying before buying it. If you think that you might get serious about this and will possibly buy a cage from various manufacturers, be sure the lenses you want will mount. Remember that the best lenses can cost somewhere above $200 each, so it’s a serious purchase.

great tips! But I've never been convinced about using extra glass with smartphones. What's the point to have a lightweight package if need to add glass to it? The anamorphic look sooo bad, flares are very ugly... I personally prefer the original integrated lenses. The only thing needed really is a nd filter

The challenge with phone lens accessories compared to DSLR lenses for example, the filter for dslr lenses doesnt change even if you change the camera body (since they are separate). It make sense then to invest on it since it will be with the lens only and for years,even decades. Now, mobile on the otherhand, the camera and the lens of course are one (literally), which means when you change your phone, theres a possibility that your accessory investments might not work anymore with the new gen of phone. And I change phone every 3 years. Not the case for DSLR ( when i still have dslr way back). In short, hard to invest to these expensive filters when you know you will change your "camera" phone often. i dont have my DSLRs anymore, i use my iphone pro max only now mainly for travelling. I dont invest on accessories when it comes to its lens because of the abovementioned reasons.

Well, if you want to use ND filter you have to film in manual mode, which is not available in native Gemmed app if you have iPhone. If you have android, then you can use pro video mode. Some lenses won’t work with native camera app so they will require third-party app.

@@ZdenkaDarula Thank you for answer. I think it should be in the advice. iPhone 15 Pro Max weighs 221g. Sherpa cover 68g. Anamorphic filter 71g. Some weigh less and some slightly more. That's a total of 350g. The manufacturer Hohem states up to 400g. The seller told me that it can hold even 500g. But I'm glad I got under 400. Anyway, I'm still waiting for the iPhone. But I wrote the question because I saw that you have experience with this gimbal. Even though you probably used it with iPhone 14? it weighs 206g.

Which lens would you recommend for someone who’s not a camera pro; but wants the highest resolution possible for instagram photos (mainly photos of myself)?

If you are doing mainly selfies then Telephoto lens it is. It will also give you nice blurry background

So telephoto lens in the native camera app for selfies, but for photos of me taken by my fiancée for a post, what would you recommend? Would getting an additional lens to add on enhance the photo in any way as it pertains to resolution or make it look more professional?

@@jenningsgyedu7092 iPhone Lenses don't add any form of quality (in fact they rather degrade the picture a bit). What you get is a new/desired perspective and a more natural blur (if you don't like the one that Focos and others can provide digitally).

I just upgraded the Sherpa case to the 15 Pro Max--- Frewell must be kidding - the case is so tight on the camera it is impossible to get on and even worse to get off.. Of course the tight fit can help keep the phone in the case when there are lens attached but none-the-less way to small

Interessant, aber leider kein Wort zur Befestigung der Linsen an den Smartphones. Ich musste feststellen, dass meistens spezielle Hüllen erforderlich sind. Diese können aber problematisch sein, wenn sie ohne die Linsen im Alltag benutzt werden. Mir sind insbesondere scharfe Kanten aufgefallen. Deshalb wechsele ich die Hüllen, nachdem ich mit den Aufnahmen mit Zusatzlinsen fertig bin. Das ist nicht gerade praktisch.

Hm… I never change cases.. and they are not sharp. It depends what brand you go with. Yes each system is different and requires different case which really bothers me too

Starting with comparing IPhone & Samsung in section 5:38 didn’t do any justice. The scenes should had been the same for both phones. As for buying filters is just a waste of money. Photoshop or most photo software can take care of filter replacements. Although many love lines going through a film is hideous in my opinion just as most directors preferred blurring background scenes has been over done -too much. Again, photoshop is your replacement for filter lenses- Big savings. If anything, best to get a lens that would up the factory lens on your phone -nothing more.😎

I bought the entire Sherpa system and ended up being very disappointed because it didn’t match my mission. By that I mean, I make how to KZbin videos and these lenses don't match that mission. There lenses and everything is very good quality. But I made a big mistake and I’m trying to get a return authorization with the company, in my opinion, this equipment is not ideal for how to videos. Wish I knew what's a good video camera for my mission.

All dandy with those lenses, I have all the M moment lenses. Tell me which modern phone they will fit today. You have a choice of buying either an iPhone or Samsung, that's it. Okay, you can buy a unviversal mount if you are desperate, but I can inform you that it doesn't work. I'm definitely not buying, like peeing on your hands when you are cold, work for short while.
