The ref has to take into account when a player has certain patterns of behavior and then keep an eye out for it.... like pursuing opponents instead of the ball and wrapping the racquet behind your opponent instead of playing clean when you could have done that... Dessouky has gotten lots of players frustrated with those antics over the years. Also, I feel like El Shorbagy's post-match interview was pretty respectable considering his frustrations. Another example of professionalism....

Actually the no-wipe rule doesn't make sense from a covid perspective, if there's one thing that almost everyone agrees on it's that it's transmitted on aerosols not through surfaces/touch.

PSA ref really must improve. Too many wrong decisions. As the image of Elias loosing HKG on an error. So bad 👎🏻

Why not use video review to see if a ball hits the tin? A video referee is there and could easily review, and in this match the ball clearly hit the tin at a crucial part of the game.

Wonder when they'll make use of technology like tennis net sensors - they could cover the top of the tin and the out of bounds lines on the walls. Maybe I'm missing something but that seems like it would be pretty easy to add to these courts. And would save a lot of time the players bicker with Central ref and argue about Vid ref decisions. Play on already.

The referees go doolally at times and in parts of this match that's just what happened. Good on Mohamed for sticking with it, mind you it was wasn't all one sided with the erring decisions.
