Great to see you ended up going with the destination 4wd awning mate 👍 there's a very good reason it's such an expensive awning. It's 100% Australian designed, built owned & operated. One of only a few manufacturers that make Australian made awnings rather than just importing awnings & slapping their name on it. Unfortunately Australian materials & labour is very expensive which is why most companies choose to import everything. Everyone should support local Australian businesses where ever possible so we keep growing small Australian businesses. The owner is also one of the nicest bloke's you'll ever meet and invested every dollar he has into starting this business

I've supported lots of Australian businesses by exporting their product overseas, especially during Covid. Economics are complicated. Importing is also helping Australia economy in someway. At the end of the day, it all comes down to whether it's good quality and good value for money. "Aussie made" shouldn't be a selling point. No bias.
@Campingdownunder2 жыл бұрын
@@angeloudy good point you definitely can't buy something just because it's Aussie made. But of the 2 main free-standing awnings made in Australia they are both very expensive when you consider its competitors but I've personally seen both this awning and the camp king industries awning which I run on my 4wd and they are top quality worthy of the investment. You also have to consider after sales support. The dealer may be in Australia but if you have any warranty issues you have to hope they have the parts in stock to replace them. Where as something built in Australia it's much easier to source parts. But I understand not many people can justify spending so much on an awning & are happy spending less for a lower quality awning as they may not use it enough to justify the price. But I think of it as an investment that's going to last me years to come

I get that it’s for strength, but those mounting brackets seem verrryy long, I’ve got an old fox wing 270 degree and the brackets take up 1 row on my rhino rack platform, and I can hang off of it without it even budging, so I’d like to see how they go
@DASHOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
If you ask me, the longer the brackets the better
@smallaam61912 жыл бұрын
I’d disagree because the space it takes up is important, as it would take out a whole rail that you then can’t use, but will be good to know it’s quality

Great design, have never seen an awning which extends horizontally. Unfortunately there is no way I could justify spending $3k on an awning. Would rather spend $100 on an awning extension tarp. Furthermore I've been debating with the idea of ditchinh my awning and just using an aluminium channel on my roof rack which can then be used to slide an awning extension into it and use 2 poles at the other end, result will be less wind resistance and weight on the vehicle.
@jo-annel.wright29758 ай бұрын
I would do that on my iMax campervan next time...maybe. KISS? Yesterday I binged watched suction cups and tarp awnings on youtube but a sail rail on all sides of the van could be a thing. On the plus side is the rain doesn't get in. We have cheap awnings on both sides of the van but use the passenger side one along with a reimo tailgate tent every camp. The second awning, awning extender and two side walls get used when needed. We have extra poles and guy ropes now so the walls and awning extender create more covered area. Next is more ground dog Pegs to match the number of ropes. And a drop down bench attached to the sliding door...maybe? I love this 180 awning because of the 2.9mt depth...and that it is grey...though I do prefer a tri-fold to a bi-fold so I can cover the front door and have it extend to the end of the open tailgate. Chasing unicorns?
