Moody stormy rainy weather is half the point in visiting the PNW 💙🌲💙💙

Stayed her for 3 nights in 2021 on the first floor with views of the river. The location is wonderful but barely got any sleep the entire time we were there. The hotel is above the water. Below the hotel there were sea lions barking the entire time, plus there are loose pilings knocking back and forth with the water. PLUS the entire hotel has concrete floors and everything echoes from the lobby/bar/hallway. Luckily the lobby and bar quiet down eventually but the sea lions and loose pilings don't. We were exhausted the entire time we were in Astoria. We took a trip to Cannon Beach while we were visiting and we both ended up falling asleep on the beach for 2 hours. We also felt like we had no privacy. The "balcony" is literally just an open walkway with rope separating each balcony so we didn't feel comfortable keeping our blinds open to the amazing view. And since the entire floor is concrete, we could literally hear every conversation outside of our room, any when you walked past rooms in the hallway, you could hear EVERYTHING that was happening inside each one. Hopefully this place has made some adjustments and fixed some of these since then....
