Amazing project, congratulations to the owner. The only "limitation" I see, is that, it is a one and half bedroom house (not really a 2 bedroom since it is so small). The second bedroom could be an Office space or so. A good way to fix this would be to use the under space of the lawn, to have (for example) 2 extra bedrooms, if allowed by the Camara of course (alteracao de Alvara). Either way, it's still an amazing property!

Once you see the drone shots you understand the owner's vision. You can't even see the new section from the front which shows respect to the original building. The understated blend of old and new is well done and the underground section with the living roof is well thought out with stunning views. I liked how proud the owner was of his creation and rightfully so. Has lots of possibilities for a full time home, part time home/holiday rental. Probably really inexpensive to live in and maintain. Not what you'd expect and unique with high quality materials. Being close to town is a bonus.

Stunning property. But I'd also love to see it in spring or winter, after some rain - because the late summer look is inevitably for dry and brown land. The house must look amazing in a greener landscape! Plus who ever takes it on will benefit from the trees already planted growing to fill the space. Great video as usual!

@billyinwaves I do too! I asked why they didn't irrigate the living roof and he said it was a decision to make it blend in with the land and it also goes green in winter like everything else. Also, thank you 😊

MY GOSH!!!!!! I love it!!!! Incredibly well done! I would not change a thing. Ok maybe pellet instead of wood, wishful thinking gas heat. Does it need install of A/C ever for any reason? (besides the idea of natural a/c) ... So there is a nearby neighbor looking down over the property. Who cuts any grass/shrubs or can the neighbors animals take care of it? I saw no lawn equipment. Also, the walkway down between the two...what about rainfall rushing through?

There's a hidden guly at the bottom of the ramp, it's taken to a pipe on the big wall. I'm a big fan of split ac now, see what I did there but the house was cool inside on a hot day, I'd guess that makes it warm on a winters day. The grass is kept clear by sheep's and horses and in turn they've fed the land with poop, so much poop which is great! From the front elevation you are overlooked by nobody and the other houses are far enough away. The building to the left elevation is a bull stable, so no neighbours there.

They have been here for a long time, and now the kids have grown up they're not interested in rural Portugal, so I think this is a big factor. If they move somewhere that's a bit more 'happening', they will see more of them.

Another example of housewife architecture. What a great big bathroom. What a designer staircase. What a spacious living room with dining room and kitchen on 50 square meters? USB everywhere, YES I got it. 1HA of land without any special plants and artifacts. But an almost empty, unrenovated pool for swimming at some point? Where are the real highlights? No, that's definitely not suitable for a family. For me, this asking price is simply utopian for something like this somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Central Portugal.

I haven't seen the spreadsheet on what this property cost to build, but having worked in construction I know this was a very expensive project. It's also a stunning location and property in this area is more expensive than our area. It's a special place.

Overpromoted, Overpriced, Undersized. Just because a lot of money was spent on the completion of a tiny house project does not make it more valuable. It is still a tiny living space. Is Portugal for crying out loud. One of the allures of Portugal is the affordable housing which this is not. Nothing outstanding about the land either with the addition of a permanently flooded part. Good luck at that price.

It depends on what is actually offered for the 1.5. Like I said just because a lot of money was spent on a property does not equate to the value of the property. Maybe the $1.5 is totally worth it. 👍
