Great video! Loved final shape, too bad episodes are just seasons with less content…

Thanks heaps! Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm hoping that with the three act structure that these episodes are following that we'll be getting a story that slowly unfolds into something much greater with its broader story. I feel like I'm going to trust them to cook. But the early weeks have felt a little light.

Apparently I'm the only guy who thinks TFS has a painfully average campaign due to poor writing, relying on nostalgia-baiting, and lackluster level-design. The aesthetic of the Pale Heart is fine, but that's it, it's just fine. An area with green, an area that's the previous type of area with much more brown, and then a desolate area; mixed with areas that look like someone really liked The Shivering Isles from Oblivion. All of it's just fine, but it doesn't really entice me like the Dreadnought or Savathun's Throne World did, or hell, at least Neonuma had a cool concept that was just never realized. Prismatic's fine, it just confirms my suspicion when I first saw it, that it's an idea that has Bungie putting it's feet in two separate camps. It constantly feels like Prismatic either should've replaced subclasses entirely and have everything, or shouldn't exist at all. (And it reinforces that the people at Bungie seriously don't understand what the Titan fantasy was from the start. Titans weren't just cavemen punching everything, they were the soldier class.) Cayde coming back is pathetic as far as I'm concerned, and he's the highlight of the piss-poor narrative. We're not entirely sure what Bungie did with the extra four months they gave themselves, but I think it's obvious that it was Prismatic and I guess bailing themselves out of bringing Cayde back as nostalgia-bait. Or maybe it was spent further assassinating Zavala's character? Osiris and Saint? Who knows. Point being that, with what information I do have and my guesses, the delay didn't do much, and sure as shit didn't accomplish their goal of making TFS's campaign "great" instead of just "good." Everything around the campaign is good, it's seriously backpacking this expansion, but it's getting far too much praise for "innovation," and it doesn't feel like a final expansion to a saga, and this is entirely due to the leadership at Bungie over the last few years literally championing, "Don't over-deliver, because then people have expectations." TFS is a 6.5-7/10 for me. Witch Queen, Forsaken, and The Taken King shit on it for a litany of reasons. And while I wouldn't rate Lightfall ahead of it, something has to be said about the fact that I (mindlessly) enjoyed playing that campaign far more than this one. Miscellaneous points: >Pathfinder's fine. Replacing bounties with it is just fine, it's a lateral move. >There's a lack of new Exotics with this DLC and Episode 1, and it's pathetic. But Bungie wouldn't want to "over-deliver" and make it worth the $100, now would they? >That being said, at least all of the Exotics we did get were great (minus one). I'd say "quality over quantity is better," but this wouldn't apply here since it's just Bungie being lazy and greedy. >The post-campaign/raid mission was cool. >The raid isn't something I've attempted yet. It looks ok. From what I've seen, it looks like the mechanics have delved too far into the realm of too convoluted, which means a shit ton of people won't play it, who are able to play pretty much every other raid. >I like how the Pale Heart functions, I really do, but it feels like a step forward that was needed five years ago, not in 2024. But it's something I'd really love to see improved and implemented on every planet going into the future, alongside the current ones. >Having Prismatic Fragments unlocked account-wide (and the Exotic mission requirements) is something I didn't expect them to do due to their incompetence and hatred for the players, but I'm happy it's in the game. But, then, why the fuck do we need to play six Adventures to unlock the rest of Prismatic on every character?

Yeah whilst I wouldn't define The Final Shape as innovative, I would say that it does double down on a lot of the existing things Bungie does well. I can understand your criticisms. As far as narrative goes, I don't see it winning any awards, but for Destiny I do think this is the best story Bungie has told since starting this long series. I think it is definitely a step in the right direction. Not to mention after how bas Lightfall was my hopes for this wrapping up decently at all were non-existent. So I feel like they did a good job even if it had nostalgia bait at exploring these characters and it tapped into a lot of the arcs the season content had been slowly building towards too. The question for me now is if Bungie will take the positive feedback and continue to make steps towards storytelling and gameplay systems that would constitute as innovative, or if the next expansion will be another Lightfall or Beyond Light experience. I think the atmosphere of The Pale Heart is creative and interesting even if it is nostalgia baiting, I do like the sinister feeling and think they did a good job, but agree to disagree, it's a preference thing.

As a single player who has played Destiny since 2014, TFS is agonizingly anti-singles. The exotic mission that requires two, the legendary Cooperative Focus missions that replaced the weekly story missions needing a group, the Elite Battlegrounds this season not having matchmaking. They literally have the blueprint on how activities can be run with open matchmaking why did they make 2024's expansion so anti non-group?

This was the expansion where Bungie finally said f*ck you to all solo players and didn't even try sugar coat it. Exotic class items where a sales point and a big part of the reason I bothered with this expansion. After 10 years I can finally say I'm done and Bungie won't get a another penny out of me.

No clue why you're so mad about this. You can always use LFG/Fireteam finder to find another person like you OR you can do without? It's not like they're mandatory. You're already missing raid/dungeon exotics if you only solo and I bet you're fine without those.

I dont know how to Prismatic. It doesn't feel that good (yet) to play Hunter especially the Grenade. And I mean double golden gun exists.

It does take some time to find a rhythm with and unlike any other subclass, I feel like you can play prismatic wrong if you don't have a good balance of light and dark for your weapons and abilities.

lightfall wus a dlc shoehorned in to the story to milk some more money outta the player base :) suspect it was meant to be part of the witchqueen and perhaps some parts of final shape slapped together w/o a care really

Very good game if one truly starts from destiny 1, big fat pice of crap for new players starting from final shape, but never a solo player game, that's a big lie, more and more everyday like Fortnite, also only a multiplayer game.
