There are some lore reasons as to why at least some of the pyramid ships were empty. One could view Europa's as being either ours or Eramis' depending on who won between us. It is clear from Shadowkeep that The Witness was trying to groom us into becoming a disciple. Even tempting us with Statis to do so. However we had Elise to act as the 'angel on our shoulder'. So while we gladly took statis, we refused to follow The Witness. The lunar pyramid of course was Nerazecs that crashed into the moon during the Collapse. And Nezzy was killed by Savathun. As for the one that was on Io, idk. But even Rhulks pyramid seemed empty outside of the Scorn and Taken he summoned. Like these ships could house an entire city, you can look out from anywhere in Rhulks pyramid and see that.

I don't know if this is true, but based on the cutscene where the Witness was formed, it kinda looks like the pyramids are part of the architecture. So I kinda always assumed the vessels were part of that civilization before it merged. That kinda explains why it looks like a city inside if the people actually lived there or did so if they were spacefaring too. Again, I have no idea if this is true at all. It's just kinda my headcanon.

I really enjoy hearing your perspective on this retrospective. It's hard these days to not have someone clickbaiting or rage-baiting, going completely over-the-top one way or another. It's hard to get nuanced takes these days and this video, while not only entertaining, nails it fantastically. To say that hype was at an all-time high was both very true, and in a way, an understatement. Between the Lightfall trailers, the different Exotics and Strand, and all the changes coming to the game (loadouts, difficulty scalars, armour mods, etc) seeing the final trailer that dropped 24 hours before had me almost scared as to what was going to happen, in a good way. Of course, hindsight exists and I feel that if Lightfall’s narrative was better (less forced comedy and focus on Strand, more focus on the structure of the story and a Veil explanation) it would have been the best update and expansion to the game

As somebody who watches a lot of gaming content, including a whole lot of retrospectives on older games, it's cool to get one for the game that me and my friends have sunk the most time into together. I think one really cool part about the video, is how positive you were about the upcoming content that bungie used to fill the gap between Wish/Final Shape, and you didn't even know how insane Into the Light was going to end up being. Honestly, Into the Light is the closest we've ever got to the Age of Triumph release in the final year of D1, and that is high praise coming from somebody who absolutely loved that time in Destiny.

My Lightfall synopsis is content wise honestly the best year I’ve been in. Unfortunately story wise (in the DLC itself the seasons had pretty good story imo) disappointing which caused a chain reaction souring the entire community. The sour taste of the community loomed over the entire year and felt bad despite my personal enjoyment of the year.

I still think that a theory my friend and I came up with for Lightfall's story would have been so much cooler: The Witness does something that cuts us off from our light, and through that absence of the light we discover strand and master it in order to reconnect to the light and fight off the Witness's and Calus's forces.

There was some lore about a guardian getting controlled by Nezerec and was forced to kill his ghost and rip out his eyeballs, that is really effing disturbing… but imagine if we got to see that in real time during RON. I can say confidently that lightfall as a whole, is definitely the expansion my friends and I played the most, and we’ve been playing Destiny since 2014. This i KNOW is due to them adding loadouts. It’s crazy just how much more fun the game got with that simple addition. It gave us a reason to actually really grind our other characters. About 40% of every season is spent by us just making loadouts on all our characters, making transmogs to go with all the loadouts and actually trying out builds and way more exotics that we’d never use before. And while I didn’t really do any of the seasons stories because I get deathly bored of the way they make us do them, my friends all completed every seasons story this time around. For the entirety of Destiny 2 for some reason we’ve only played 2 out of the 4 usual seasons they release with an expansion. Other than the story and the raid difficulty, imo lightfall was the best expansion for my group fun wise.

I've been playing since roughly the mid point of season of Arrivals. So i may not hold as much experience as some of the other veterans, but, after playing through every expansion, especially those that were not yet vaulted (R.I.P. Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken). I have faith that Bungie won't mess up their finishing lap of a decade long saga. Especially with everything that's been going on, I believe that they're putting in every bit of effort, pulling on all the strings of unanswered questions and mysteries to bring us something that's more than just a satisfying finish to the Saga. I will continue to play destiny, I will see it to the end, and whether that means i have to get Destiny 3 or something else, i don't care. I love destiny, through thick and thin. Lightfall was fun, and i'm always happy to play what Bungie gives us... Even if it is admittedly worse than expectations that were set.

Seraph was my favourite time in gaming. Period. I adored that season and the game during it. So to open Lightfall's first mission and be thrust into a mission that had nothing backing it I was more than a little disappointed. Like we had just spent months with Osiris learning about this hidden stronghold and that it's likely on Neptune but that's as far as we really got, then we jump into mission one of lightfall and osiris is raving about the veil like he knows it's the most important plot hook of the expansion while we had next to nothing on it or even confirmation of a city on Neptune (look back at beyond light and our cautious entry to europa's wastes to deal with a distress call or to the witchqueen where we need to rush to mars to assess the situation). In lightfall, pale megamind rocks up to our god and home and says u all suck and we proceed to sprint away with osiris who has been gifted knowledge and decided not to share with us... like it just doesn't flow well at all or follow our guardian (or the vanguard's) behaviour. Our going to neptune is almost entirely to make sure osiris is safe for Ikora meanwhile he knows where we need to go and what to do. Now I hate unconstructive criticism so what I think they should have done is thrown us into some massive battle jumping between pyramid ships or assaulting calus' leviathan as they all approach the traveller only to hitch a ride as they mysteriously turn tale and flee to neptune with us getting comms from osiris on what what limited stuff he's learned in THE FEW HOURS (Cutscene wise) since we stopped eramis and learned about "the veil" and neptune's mysterious secret stronghold. Osiris does annoyed and confused very well and even in the lightfall campaign but I have played it and now gone and done lore reading about it and I'm still a little lost as to why the veil is accessible via vexnet (see the strike) or how it has anything to do with neomuna's citizens (is it not just a giant paracausal fungus they're hiding from the witness? they don't even know how to tap into it... they made the metaverse with it like come on. anyway... lightfall could've been better and I wish we could explore more of the city itself

The problem about Lightfall is that TWQ seasons did a poor job to lead us there besides season of the Haunted. The Veil should have been mentioned more before as something the witness was seeking (even without naming it) and give us the premise that it would be a “race” between us and the Witness. Instead it was just a last minute thing, and us going to Neomuna was also last minute as a “see i’m not crazy” from Osiris. I think the mishandling came from Plunder, we gather Nezarec’s relics to wake up Osiris, but imo he should have woke up halfway through it with fogged memories, and have the “Nezcafé” be a way for him to clear Savathun’s memories to learn about Neomuna and the Veil.

I think Lightfall had more memorable moments than shadowkeep. Tell me a memorable moment other than the beginning and end of shadokeep. Light fall had the opening, the sparrow run, escaping breakneck, the defense with Caitil, hearing Calus smashing his way through. Strand was also very well done and is the highest point for the expansion. Ron while being easy, that in and if itself isn't bad thing, look at vog and dsc. though vog was the first raid and is very simple and dsc is still getting everyone involved but. Also chicken brant ruby rose as the final boss was awesome. Just hearing Nezy say "Guardians, let me devour your fear" as he breaks out/ slams down to start the fight is too good. the pyramids being empty i see as they had them before they merged into the witness, why take one when the others still function, and Rhulk and Nezy were given their own pyramids any way. I think that yeah Lightfall is probably a filler, its not a bad filler, but bungie does need the final shape to blow witch queen out of the water, maybe not to that degree but. season of the witch and wish are the better two of lightfall. I didn't like wish as much as searph but nothing will be better than watching red sacrifice (heh heh) himself for the traveler... AND ERAMIS INVOKE A WISH TO BE TURNED INTO A VAULT EXOTIC, but hearing Riven grant the 15th wish with the "this one you shall cherish forever" was icing on the cake for this season. Oh and which Guardians have killed gods and disciples and commit warcrimes on the daily? probably not those sitting in the helm (I kid i kid, mostly)
