The Witness views the Traveler as being apathetic because of its silence: but if it were apathetic, why did it choose to give gifts to the precursors? The Witness' final words of it not understanding is how it could never see that the Traveler's silence was its true guidance. It left them because they did not see that it wanted them to define their own purpose, so they attempted to force it at knife point since they were blind. The Witness screwed over so many civilizations including the Eliksni since it could not accept the fact that the Traveler refused to control its children and devotees. The Witness chose a knife to try and carve purpose upon it and everyone else, yet the Traveler gives the pen and paintbrush to write and paint purpose upon the endless canvas of the universe. Guardians make their own fate, and the Traveler only seeks to equip them to make the right choice.

This. This is the best interpretation of the Traveler. And this probably makes the Traveler one of my favorite fictional god-like beings in fiction now. As it uses its power not to control and destroy but to create and enrich the universe with life for the sake of it. As that's what a gardener's purpose is in its truest form. The Traveler wasn't silent because it didn't care. It was silent because it didn't want to impose itself upon those that it gifted its boons with. As to speak is to give commands, and commands have meaning and purpose. And giving purpose through edicts isn't the Traveler's way. Instead it empowers those it shares its Light with so they can create their own meaning and purpose for themselves. The Witness' biggest mistake was how it thought it was it's duty to impose purpose on those around it without their concent or request. That's why it was defeated.

I dont think the Traveler physically experiences pain... i think it is referring to the suffering of existence, and of thinking. Of love. Of worry. Of the realization that to create life is to create death- things die, nature happens, nature is violent in its primal nature (things eating things etc). It bestows life upon the universe thus bestows suffering and death. Basically the pain that The Witness is so angry at the Traveler about in the first place! ❤

Painful for the Traveler to think and have memories? Yeah, I would think so. That's more of the domain of the Darkness than the Light. It seemed like the Traveler was more like an unconscious being just acting on feelings and thoughts in the moment for the most part and unable to communicate properly because it doesn't have much in the form of memory. Guardians and Ghosts return to the Traveler/Light, but that's just their essence, not their memories and what shaped them. It's why when someone becomes a Guardian, they don't remember anything of their previous life, it's just their essence/soul that returns from the point when they died, not the memories that shaped them into the person they were. Hence why Zavala and Crow are pretty much similar to what they were like in their first life. I wonder with the Traveler having Darkness inside it now, will things change and start interacting with Guardians more. And will we see new Guardians being created that have their memories now and have easier access to the Darkness. As for mystery being the big part of this game. I agree it is but at some point, you got to start answering these questions. You don't have to have all mysteries solved but you should have some big parts of it solved to give some resolution when the story ends.

I think the Traveler being a more "prismatic" being, harmonious with Light and Dark, has the potential to be a good thing. The Traveler has a mind, but it is limited. With Darkness, it's mind may literally expand, allowing memory. And with the ability to learn, comes the capability to learn, and thus the ability to adapt and grow. Because we know from the Visions of the Traveler that we collect that the Traveler isn't corrupted by the Darkness, it's just changing. It will be very interesting to see what changes comes about in our old spherical friend, what new behavior it will have.

So I've been looking into a few myths and the way the traveller is portrayed trying to warn and protect was interesting then the vision of the traveller that bird. A Hawk. Like a tale of a man approaching the water and his faithful companion he loved dearly a hawk attacking him to stop him from approaching the water while he was thirsty. The man kills the hawk to get to the water only to learn it was trying to stop him as a monster lurked in the water. The traveller itself being this hawk being injured by those it sought to protect. A hawkmoon perhaps.

Mystery is what makes this game intriguing, yes that's true. But you can't just go 10 years without giving any *real* answers to the most important questions we've had since day one. Look at the tv show "Lost" for a good example of the same issue. That show was fun to watch because of all the mystery surrounding the plot. But by the end of the show they answered almost none of the questions they had been posing for years. Ultimately it left the show feeling very unsatisfying, & people hated it by the end. Unsolved Mysteries and dropped plot threads leave a bad taste in your mouth, and no one exemplifies that issue more than Destiny

man, hearing the dialogue in game, hearing the way the traveler is describes. I can't help but see someone who is autistic and/or an introvert, or on the spectrum, who sees and feels and thinks differently, but can't *say* because they're so anxious and scared that to try and make others 'see' through words is.. painful, literally. I struggle with it constantly, as someone with autism, to help people who are neurotypical understand how different the world is through the eyes of someone whose neurodivergent. im honestly glad the traveler wasn't some omnipotent deity with an agenda, or a scheming charlatan using us like a bully who hides behind his mother's legs. I knew nothing about the game until recently and was really surprised to see that the story being so similar to everything I know in the spiritual world as well as the true cosmic knowledge I learnt for the past years. The Traveler is the cosmic consciousness (the Source) which we are all part of. The ghost is our soul. Darkness are also souls that left the Source to explore the universe but they went too far and forgot their origins, but left with the instinct to follow the light in order to return to Source. The writer must have been much inspired by these spiritual and cosmic knowledge knowingly or unknowingly.

I think the winnower is the veil , the gardener is the traveller , both were two parts of a great machine a terraformer.I think over a millennia each developed independant thought and sought to be free from each other so they played what they called the game of flowers until eventually they created the first knife , designed to be used separate them both ( hence the huge scar on the traveller

@EvazeOfficial Thank you for this video! I felt you directed some words to me, and I felt awesome for that, so thanks for that, too. Yes I know Bungie is using the Traveler as the main artifact for the story of Destiny and they will keep trying to maintain a mystery for a long time using it as a basis for Destiny 3 and so forth. However, I feel that an answer is needed soon because, as many people feel, this might be the last Destiny campaign they will want to play ever. That would have been a good closer for the saga and a new beginning with a better and more intimate knowledge and understanding of the Traveler. A good manifestation of the Traveler as a character that can interact and have some intelligent conversation, and share all of that knowledge would be a great pay off for the players who, as me, were there even before day 1. Until then, I'll be watching any updates on it through your amazing videos, which have guided me through the story of Destiny all of these years. Keep them coming!

Yeah its interesting but I think its pretty obvious that the traveler isn't the most important part of it. The gardener and the winnower are the most important. I think it appears that the traveler is the embodiment of the new rules the gardener wanted to put into the flower game. What we're seeing as the universe is simple the board on which the flower game has been played countless times. The gardener and the winnower are playing the game out just as they always have, only this time with some modified house rules that the gardener put into place. What we see as the dark is nothing more than the winnower trying to make its point to the garderner. That even if you add in these new rules that the final shape of the game is still going to get to the same point, its just going to take much longer to do it and cause a hell of a lot more pain in the process. This is the concept of life and entropy. Entropy WILL win in the end, it cannot "not" win. It has to win because thats just how the universe works. Everything will dilute down until everything is equal. Flat. A final shape of things, where nothing further can happen because all that could happen has happened. Some people refer to it as the heat death of the universe. The traveler is the disruptive force put forward by the gardener. The witness wasn't a god of any sort, it was just an expression of entropy that it took upon itself. The winnower did not give it any sort of direction, it didn't influence it at all. It doesn't have to. Its entropy, it need not DO anything because by the simple laws of reality it WILL win in the end. The witness and its people mistook that simple fact as being told to take some sort of action. Thus the witness being born and going on its quest to commit the final shape. The traveler only knows that its part of the game, but it has seen so much and exists on a higher level than anything else around it. So when it shows up somewhere and starts doing its thing its confused as to why the little beings want to worship it. It realizes that if it were to just directly communicate, its words would become absolute law and take any semblance of personal choice out of the equation for whoever heard it speak. It does appear as a god to pretty much everything except itself. It understands enough to know that by taking direct action it runs the risk of causing damage and removing free will. It knows it NEEDS to on occassion but thats why it does it vaguely so that there is at least some interpretation to what its doing, again allowing free will to be a part of what is going on. Fact is its not a god, its just a part of the game like anything else, it just happens to be able to see way more of the board at once than we can. Ultimately our struggles are a moot point, sure we can fight against it but the winnower... aka entropy will win. You cannot avoid it, you cannot fight it. You can drag it out as long as you like but it has no concept of time, no concept of anything other than that it will win because it HAS to win because there is no other possible way for things to happen. Entropy wins, bottom line 100% of the time, nothing anyone, not even the traveler can do about it. Destiny and all of its story so far points to that fact. There are no answers, there is only entropy and how long we feel like we can fight against it, but ultimately the struggle means nothing because in the end it wins and the game resets and they do it all over again. That might seem depressing to some but I think thats the entire point. Destiny isn't a name chosen arbitrarily. It defines the entire concept. Our Destiny is to struggle against entropy knowing full damn well it will win. Same thing applies to the actual universe. We understand generally enough about the real universe to reach the same conclusion. In the end... entropy wins. We probably won't be around to see it, nothing will be. So the real question it puts forward is that since we know this is going to happen, it is up to each of us on an individual level to find a reason to struggle to begin with. Love, family.. wealth.. memory... whatever it is that gets you out of bed in the morning knowing you sit upon a spinning ball of dirt that itself is going to be destroyed by our star.. which in turn will die... in which our galaxy will die.. in which our super cluster will die... in which the universe itself.. will die... all the while entropy simply sits and waits.. watches.. with little or no interest to anything its seeing. Just sitting there watching us struggle, probably thinks its cute. When death smiles at you... all you can do is smile back, give it the finger and charge that prismatic meter. I say if we're all fucked anyways might as well make as big of an ending as possible.

The Traveler is an AI. Compared to a human I would say the traveler has an “Autistic” personality. Good in specific, limited aspects but a child-level when it comes to empathy and wisdom.

The traveler to me is like our God Jesus Christ, a God that gives light and love and peace and happiness. They are almost one and the same, some people may not see it this way but the traveler resembles a loving God and is why I love playing this game, it gives you purpose

In my opinion I think the Destiny story would've been a lot better if the Traveler was the bad one and the power it gave us was never suppose to be our's and the god's that were killed were never suppose to be killed.

I prefer the Traveler to remain the light and something we can look up to in the worst times and draw the strength we need to do what must be done.
