For as long as I could comprehend, my mom has been living below her means and she's still broke and we still don't have have property/businesses/investment portfolios to pass down. You can live below your means all you want, that doesn't mean you're ever going to step out of debt
@tessy28
@tessy28 Жыл бұрын
I actually kind of agree. Living below your means only works for so long until you can't anymore. At some point you just need to increase your income. I was only able to buy an investment property when I gained extra income. My business however I was able to start without any income. It depends on the type of business you start and the services you offer. Yes though it's much better to approach life both trying to increase income and live below means.
@876me7

Killer Mike laid out a multi prong approach, which included living below your means and Getting and education or a trade. Getting an education or trade increases earning capacity as you have a skill to leverage. He didn’t pose living below your means as a solution in and of itself. It’s meant to be one factor amongst many. Studies show getting an education, getting a career, getting married and then having children, in that order of accomplished substantially lowers one’s chances of living in poverty.

Poverty is engineered. You won't save your way out of something that's engineered. You have to address it systemically. And I'm sure your mom could use money better than Bezos if she earned what she was actually worth. I've never been poor a day in my life, luckily (and I'm not saying ur mom is poor) and I have watched ppl who live below the bread line do amazing things with their money. If money was a result of hard work or ingenuity, Africans would be running the Forbes list

That’s extremely true. Even though Asians are the “model minority”they take every opportunity to do both. People come to America from all over the globe, as a result. I grew up around “bootstrap pullers,” so I’m clear that it’s a mentality and a way of life. Black folk made Destiny feel comfortable by running to him about black issues for his opinion on it so i don't see why people are now moaning. The fact that a wh!te person is bringing up the wh!te saviour arguement to a black man is embarrassing. As for Killer Mike, he's not lying but these people need to remember that we're in a captalist society which is desgined for most to not make it big and capitalism and r@cism go hand in hand. He can say what he says but the current conditions poor black folks live in need to be actually livable, clean and not below basic. That alone would improve mindsets.

This whole situation does not start with the Killer Mike clip. Destiny and Aba have been harassing FD Signifier for a while now because FD is a progressive and he's been growing in popularity. Themis' framing is a bit sus. I'll just cut to the chase - Destiny is a racist and Aba is a misogynist. Also Themis' stance on police brutality is a bit sus. In terms of the tweet response to Killer Mike's comments, I think they both make a fair point. There are some basic things that can be done to improve our situation and it is good that KM brought them up, but there are systemic issues that are preventing those in extreme poverty from even taking those steps. The standard for being not racist can’t be disagreeing with open white nationalists/nazi sympathizers. There is a lot of racism between being not racist to being so racist you identify as a white nationalist. So while destiny doesn’t identify as a white nationalist, destiny hangs out with white nationalists in his house. Destiny doesn’t identify as a white nationalist but he makes videos of him and white nationalists hanging out laughing. Destiny invites white nationalists over his house and eats dinner with white nationalists willingly. And he did campaign to say the n word and admitted that he regularly said the n word. I don’t know how a white man who hangs out with white nationalists and who uses the n word so much that he advocated publicly for using it whenever he wanted isn’t a racist?

The young man saying destiny debates and debunks Fuentes is accurate but incomplete. Destiny debunks Fuentes sometimes, but other times he records him and Fuentes hanging out, laughing, and joking. So it is accurate to say Destiny sometimes hangs out with white nationalist Fuentes. He has had white nationalist Fuentes over his house, had his wife get white nationalist Fuentes food and drinks.

I know a lot of Black teachers and college professors who are homeless. They earned their multiple degrees and work really hard yet live in poverty. The problem is systemic. They literally pulled themselves up by the bootstraps, dealt with racist teachers who tried to prevent them from graduating, overcome medical crisises but gained debt, and now work in racist environments that harm children. Killamike wastes so much of our people's time and I sense he does it on purpose.

This is genuinely one of your worst takes. You're not fairly describing what fd signifier says nor posting that portion of his video. He says that what killer Mike said in the video is perfectly fine in itself. He continues saying that Killer Mike's comments are the kinds of things that black people talk about in church, home, at the barbershop, etc. His point was that killer Mike though as a public figure has the responsibility and the opportunity to talk about systemic issues in public and instead of doing that he decided to talk about pulling up your pants and bootstrapping as if black people haven't been doing that for 400 years. Black people are not sitting around blaming the white man for our lack of success, but that is what killer Mike's video would lead you to believe. That's the problem that FD signifier has with Killer Mike. In addition Mike has changed his position. And his music he's a revolutionary talking about killing your Masters but you put him on TV he talks about how black people need to work harder to become good capitalists. These were fd signifiers complaints about Mike.

From what I remember from the live, destiny basically said he wants to be able to say the N-word the same way black people do because it's now cool and he thinks it's should therefore not be considered racist behaviour anymore or hurt people's feeling anymore. He realizes we re-appropriated the word as a community and because of this he feels entitled to access to it. He used a bunch of words he thought would sound good but that's what I got from it 👀 🤐. Black people use the word while talking around and to non-black people. Its a constant in rap, hip hop, which is now the most popular music in the world. To me, if we had a problem with it, we should have removed it from our lexicon - instead we promote it. Black people use it irreverently, but we want non-black people to revere it, even in private conversations? It's ridiculous at this point, and quite frankly it's not a hill I would die on. There are bigger, more important racial issues to deal with.

@@sugarwaterpurple5280 it's weird how people always give conditions to this very clear boundary that was set by a group of people to justify not respecting it... I know girls who call each other the B-word. That doesn't mean everybody else outside that group calls them all the B-word. No matter how stupid or disgusting I think that is, I don't take the right to call them that nor do I assume I have it. It's among themselves and the boundary there is very clear. And people do this with many insults in groups that they defined. We defined our group as being our race and our rules apply same as in every other group. Acting like somehow this gives people the right to take access and demand we not be offended is disingenuous (because I know it's not stupid but just people acting dumb)... From what was shown, it seems that Killer Mike’s advice was related to advice he gave some children/youth. It seemed like good advice to give to kids because many people make those errors. Following that advice won’t necessarily make anyone rich but it can help them avoid many difficulties, even in the system that exists. What advice would other people suggest he tell kids?

FD can feel some kind of way about it but he should also understand that people can change their minds and opinions especially as you get older. Not sure why he blocked Destiny, in the first place, but he could’ve chosen to simply ignore the initial “tag” from Destiny and move on with life. It’s the pettiness on FD’s part, for me. Then he tried triangulating Aba into the petty to expand his reach/increase his influence/solidify his point. Turns out Aba agrees with Destiny. Oh well. There’s the disconnect with killer Mike saying doing these things will solve black people’s problems caused by racism. No doing those things won’t solve the problems caused by racism. We know this because millions upon millions of black people already do all, most, or some of the things killer Mike suggested. As a Destiny fan (most of the time) this is a very good podcast. You guys are being very fair and are being as objective as you can reasonably be which is really appreciated. I also really appreciate Kay not forming a solid opinion until she gathers the facts first. I find it very telling that there are people in the comments here complaining about that specifically. I've seen way too many people ostensibly on FDS's side having very strong opinions while getting fundamental facts wrong, most likely due to ignorance since they probably simply heard Destiny is racist and took it at face value or saw clips of him that were taken out of context. Destiny isn't racist. He's petty. He can be an asshole sometimes. And he gives way too much credit to the establishment imo. But if you actually saw his content, you wouldn't come away from it thinking he's racist. Hell, his life is pretty much a giant public spectable on the Internet for all to see, warts and all. It'd be easy to find actual shit to criticize him on rather than making shit up. FDS on the other hand, I think is intellectually lazy/dishonest, is also very petty despite the image he tries to portray, and unfortunately he has engrained himself within a certain subculture of leftists on the Internet who basically preach to the choir using their video essays from their ivory towers and stigmatize anyone who isn't in lockstep with their views, even to people who are generally fairly reasonable like Kidology. As far as I'm concerned, FDS comes across as someone who isn't at all interested in enacting any meaningful change in favor of smugly talking down to people with his very clichey Breadtube friends. After all, he couldn't have been bothered to wait more than 24 hours for 10K for something he claims to be passionate about. Don't get me wrong. Everyone in this entire Twitter interaction came out of it looking really bad imo. But you would think with how FDS likes to portray himself as "black Uncle Iroh" (his words btw) he should know better.

We don’t need any policy our governmentally involved savior to not abandon our children, not live beyond our means, to seek education, and be more entrepreneurial… isn’t that all killer Mike was saying am I missing something? Those things have nothing to do with the system of a racism. We can do those things without even entering a court of law.

I personally have been depoliticizing myself recently, but I like to drop in and check how the people are doing, all I wanted to say is that damn she's gorgeous, however I feel inclined to share my own perspective/non-perspective. All this racial analysis honestly has been eating at my subconscious, I worry many who don't limit their mindspace from anything regarding any type of turmoil will be jaded and emotionally exhausted and unavailable to their own day to day life. Of course I believe in the betterment of humanity and that of course includes black issues, but i find if i just operate off my "default settings" and opt out of these meta-analytical debates, I do the best i possibly could in the real world through friendships, mentorships, apprenticeships, everyday interactions. I know the following will sound crazy to some, especially those who live on a diet of primarily social/cultural/political analysis, but In think the majority of us young people would be better off unplugging, building deeper connections with those around you, seeking out interactions with those you feel you lack understanding with (although even this can be too tryhard and make the interaction unorganic and borderline patronizing). My point is I think we need to remember we got ONE LIFE, WE WILL PASS, so Im gonna celebrate life instead of waiting for a huge systemic change. Would it be righteous, yes, but fuck man, I think we're blinding ourselves from the nutrition around us / between us. Btw, I personally participate in community projects and have been an after school counselor/tutor/mentor for 10 years and now am a pre-k teacher. So my perspective is from someone who has admittedly drowned in the daze of systemic issues while trying to do something about "it" in my real day to day life. But even this is a defensive lens of my experience instead of just sharing, I, like many others, have been gridlocked in angling everything I do to the question of "is this enough" or "am i on the right side" and that is honestly gross, perhaps well intentioned, but misguided. And treating your mind like this, I find, can be dangerously corrosive to how you interact or the lack of interaction in day to day life. Great discussion between the 3 of yall, btw. This took me back to afterschool convos with the homies at the library in highschool. Anyway I'm in the search for a woman like Ms. Kay Aye here, Lord Jesus 🙏🏽

Destiny is racist point blank and the period! This is the same man that was banned off of Twitch because of controversial comments that he made about black people. I remember when Destiny made comments about Kai Cenat and IshowSpeed who are two black twitch streamers and how he made a generalization that black twitch streamers content have no substances and minimalized their work by saying all they do is just scream and yell into the camera. Secondly, Destiny bringing a racist onto his platform just to combat his talking points is racist within it's self because my question would be what was it for, and what did you gain out of that. this whole situation is giving "White Savior" you platform a racist to debunk his talking points not understanding that you gave this man access to harm millions of black people by spewing harmful and stereotypical rhetoric it sounds like Destiny just did that in order to proposition himself as an ally when in reality he does not care about the plights of black people. Next, The whole situation between Destiny and FD Signifier was white supremacy because why would you as a whole white man interject into black people's business just to give this blanket statement that was rooted in "Pull yourself up from the bootstraps" which is a racist dog whistle that white people do all the time in order to make black peoples failures their own fault and leaving out the systemic obstacles put in place that keep black people in poverty. In order for systematic racism to sustain itself it has to allow people to pass through in order to establish this false sense of hope that you as a black person can degree, invest, or buy your way out of oppression and that's not how that works and it leaves out a key component that in order for black people to become free this country would have to undergo a significant socioeconomic change black people cannot do this by themselves they need help from everyone, what was also interesting was that Destiny came at FD Signifier when the mans comment was actually pointing out the issues in Killer Mike's comments that was rooted in conservative and racist rhetoric. Killer Mike is so anti black this man literally met and cosigns Brian Kemp a racist politician who is actively working to suppress black people's votes, Killer Mike even made anti black comments about black women calling them "Bad Wig Mafia" which is not only anti black, but disgusting. I always say who you align with is your politic Destiny been racist and Aba been anti black because who would make a joke about donating to Atlanta Police Department when we know that the institution of policing is a contributor and indoctrinator of racism and oppression. Even the term "Good Cops" does not work because either you get killed off or you become swallowed up by the system. How many times of we seen black cops treat their own people bad! This situation is a mess!

I actually agree with Destiny’s statement re: lack of confidence in BP by BP. I suspect that he was bluffing re: “make a donation and I’ll debate you,” so his response was him being petty. I don’t like petty, especially coming from grown men. I’m happy that Destiny made a donation to the Atlanta Police Department, though, because gang violence has significantly increased there. I suspect that’s why it’s being militarized.
