I love how Destiny gets so into every game he plays, like it's actually life or death.

It's a mod for ArmA2 where it's basically a zombie-survival MMO in a huge map. You need to eat, drink, replenish blood if you get hurt, scavenge for better equipment and be VERY wary of zombies and other players alike. You're free to kill anyone you meet, or you can try to befriend them (or play with a pre-made group and try to survive together like Destiny and the rest are doing :) )

First of all, the guy behind this mod is working for Bohemia Interactive or however the studio behind ArmA2 is called. Second of all, I'm sure he found the ArmA engine better suited for a large open-world survival game like this.

As an addendum, the GTS 450 was gotten really cheap on a black friday sale as my GTX 260's heatsink broke and I needed a replacement earlier than planned.

It's in early alpha, mind you. Also, the zombies are meant to be fast, which makes them a lot scarier (harder to fight). Of course there's a lot of major bugs. And the engine of ArmA is in no way perfect. It's just what he had at hand (since he works for Bohemia) and if you ask me, it's a pretty suitable engine considering the large world and mechanics that are already in there.

they can, because of the ingame mics. it works almost like reality, if u shout people far away will be able to hear u. which is why hes whispering. else other people will hear him.

They even fixed that today, I was pretty frustrated at first too but the zombies have lost their superman hearing and xray vision now, sneaking through towns is actually possible now.

No it's super intensive. You're seeing the low "You don't own the DLC" textures on the characters, but there's a lot to the game. I run 25 FPS with an overclocked core i5 750, GTS 450, and 8 gigs of ram on medium/high settings.

Its actually $30 as you need operation arrowhead as well in order to play DayZ. There is a $30 bundle in steam to get both.

DayZ the running simulator. been 3 days of him just running to meet people, just to die 5 seconds later after meeting up then have to run again, just to die every time on the way, then finally meets up again, and then (shocker) he dies again.

You can't. You need the ArmA2 + OA expansion. Everything on this mod is connected to a central server, which requires you to have a valid cd-key. You can get ArmA2: CO (which is vanilla+OA expansion) for like 25 bucks on steam though. Totally worth it just to play this mod. And if you're into MilSims then it's a pretty good pickup anyway ^_^

It has yet to be announced if this mod will be ported to ArmA3 but with the success it has brought ArmA2 I can't see any reason why it shouldn't.

Well you can't judge a game by that! You probably just had trouble picking it up. It is a steep learning curve. I'm not saying it's a game for everyone, but it's actually really fun and usually deserves it's ratings.

Destiny. Arma is a demanding game. Your crossfire setup does not work in windowed mode. You should switch it to full screen and itll run super smooth
