@@vyvianalcott1681 I would disagree. Most people who select partners and friends are different from how Destiny selects them. Most people will cut off bad/toxic friends and relationships because staying in them is too mentally draining and unhealthy. But Steven's mind works differently, where he enjoys the drama and seeks thrill from the stress that comes with it. He even stated this when it comes to debates, most people don't actually enjoy debating because it's extremely stress inducing, and the aftermath is not fun to deal with. Lady arguing about being fired is right in my opinion. It's not about being fired or not, but the way they communicate it. These idiots came up with some bullshit corporate we fire you formula saying that she didn't meet their performance expectations, where according to what she said she was meeting all the expectations that her manager set up for her. It's like hiring someone to work on renovations in your house and then running out of money and telling them that you don't want them to work for you anymore because their work sucks, even though you have been praising them before. Just say what the issue is and be done with it, or work on better speech to give to your ex employee.

Friend, sales employment works differently than other jobs. This worker was not a permanent FTE. She was in what’s called a “90-day probationary period.” That means she’s being EVALUATED for conversion to a full time permanent position. Technically, legally, they didn’t “terminate” her. They just decided not to convert (keep) her. Sales divisions are notorious for what she’s calling “over-hiring” where they put tons of people in a probationary period. Those who don’t perform - close sales- get cut. That’s what happened to her. Something like a performance improvement plan (PIP) is only used for permanent FTEs, meaning longterm full time employees who were performing well but their performance decreased. If you never perform well enough to get converted to FTE status, like this girl, why would the company waste time on a PIP?

Destiny going off about line cooking just brings back some beautiful busy memories- I have 5 years of line cooking experience and everything he said is right, many line cooks I've worked with couldn't make a damn grilled cheese sandwich at home if their lives depended on it. In a professional kitchen you're essentially just putting the dish together as almost everything on the line is ready to be placed on a plate and assembled- that is why it's much different than cooking at home where you're going through the steps, waiting and engaging in the entire process.

The thing with the girl getting fired is straight up there's legal differences between layoffs and getting fired for performance. They're claiming she's getting fired for performance, she is trying to get them to say something to admit that it isn't, because otherwise she may not be eligible for unemployment.
@connellyboyle110 ай бұрын
Doesn’t that depend on the state? Pretty sure at will states can fire for you anything outside of protected classes
@rabidclean10 ай бұрын
@@connellyboyle1 yes they're allowed to fire you, but a lot of states will deny you unemployment benefits if you're fired "for cause", which includes performance issues. I've seen lots of companies pull some shady shit to create documentation that the employee was fired for cause so they wouldn't have to deal with an unemployment claim. Basically if you're being told you're fired for cause, but the cause doesn't make sense, you should always interrogate that claim.

@IAmTheBugInsideYou10 ай бұрын
It also consistently makes dating & interactions with people worse overall in the long-term. Yes, a man is likely to not be receptive if you tell him straight up, but if a girl does, it's completely in his hands what to do with that information after getting it. If she communicates what was wrong, & says she's not interested in talking further, she's done her part. Not communicating & just ghosting, kicks the can down the road for the next girl to deal with, instead of telling the guy what the issue was.

Don’t ignore them forever, but at least a week or 2 so they can let it sink in. Plus, you’ve just told them you’re too busy for drama/ a relationship, so the last thing to do is engage in lengthy emotional back-n-forth

When they tell her she’s getting fired for her “performance” and can’t say a single aspect for what her performance was when she was getting positive feedback from who she’s been working under all the way up to this. I have a life outside of responding to you. I turn off read receipts on everything I can because who the fuck cares? Crazy, manipulative, obsessive people care; go away and let me respond when I’m ready - not when you want me to. It's interesting that the HR people apologized. Getting fired sucks, and corporations doing mass layoffs is definitely a tragedy (my dad was laid off in budget cuts multiple times when I was a kid). The idea of apologizing for firing someone in an "inhumane" way is ridiculous. The humane way to do it doesn't have anything to do with what words you said and what I formation you gave them, it would be about what severance package you gave them and how much notice you gave them. If you REALLY wanna talk about being "humane" you probably shouldn't fire her in the first place. It's like ending a relationship. Is there really a good way to say I don't want to be with you anymore to someone? The best you can do is be simple and empathetic and explain yourself. The difference here is it's a job, we all know why we get fired. No amount of positive affirmation and explaining and validation is going to make getting fired feel good or neutral. No amount of "saying the right thing" is going to make corporations more likeable
@scarletsletter446610 ай бұрын
Yes but this worker wasn’t even a FTE. She was still in that 90-day probationary period which is commonly used in the US, particularly in sales. So technically, legally, they weren’t even firing her. They were choosing not to “convert” her to a full time permanent position. What she is calling “over-hiring” is just how sales works. Companies put a lot of employees in probationary periods (contingent employment). Those who close deals, get converted & stay. Those who don’t, get told they aren’t being converted. HR was polite not to mention this, but in truth she never met the requirements for the permanent job. She asked why she wasn’t given a performance improvement plan (PIP). That’s a 30-90 tool for a permanent FTE who was performing but their performance has fallen off recently. A company would never waste time or money trying to “improve performance” of a salesperson who’s never met sales expectations. I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, but sales is a results-dependent field. It’s probably the hardest job you can have, for 95% of people. For the 5% who can naturally sell, it’s great. This worker would likely be happier in a role that’s not “results oriented” since she’s focused on how hard she’s worked.

You’re clearly an idiot. There ARE good and bad ways to break up with someone. Even in this comment, you said “be empathetic and explain yourself”. I don’t know if you missed the video, but they didn’t explain anything. They just gave vague terms that mean nothing. If they would’ve brought up her metrics and explained that they have a higher standard than how she was performing then that’d be an actual explanation. They didn’t do that. Also, I can understand a manager hyping up their employee, but you can keep energy up while giving critique. From what she said, her management gave glowing or at least positive reviews up until she was fired. In what world does this make sense?
@draszi10 ай бұрын
The problem is she was given a bullshit reason. Imagine getting broken up with and your ex-SO says "You weren't meeting my emotional needs" meanwhile their emotional needs weren't the problem, it was just that they wanted to hook up with other people and didn't feel like being in a relationship anymore. Just say that. This vague, incorrect garbage just messes with people and doesn't help anyone.

51:21 This is a really good way of explaining this. This is something that a lot of people don’t understand. They blame women for not being assertive enough and they blame men for being too pushy. But it’s really both. We need to stop raising and conditioning girls to be so agreeable, especially when it comes to men. And we need to teach boys how to recognize when women are showing signs of feeling uncomfortable and hesitant and how to differ them from awkwardness and shyness (especially with younger, inexperienced women). But women don’t know how to say no without feeling “bad” for hurting a guys feelings or feeling like she’s letting him down and now she owes it to him because he’s expecting it and also, many guys don’t either realize when a girls uncomfortable OR they flat out don’t care and take advantage of women who are clearly uncomfortable but because she’s not flat out saying no or running away, he pushes anyways very well knowing she doesn’t really want to but now he knows she can’t cry assault because she didn’t verbally say no.

If she was not doing well and her manager failed to inform her, coach her on what she needs to change and the opportunity she deserves to make them then the manager failed the employee and failed the company. My company, a market leader, has an HR department that would send any request to terminate back if the employee performance logs didnt show repeated efforts to correct the behavior that led to the request to terminate. HR is there to protect the employees and ensure fairness.

For normal home cooking, you don't really need a meat thermometer. With experience, you can tell when meat is done enough. However... If you want to elevate your cooking, you should use a thermometer. When you're cooking casually, you tend to overcook meat just to be safe. But if you want the perfect result, you want to be getting to exactly your target temp without going over by much. This will result in the juiciest, most tender meat. So in reality, a meat thermometer isn't really to make sure you're not undercooking. Any somewhat experienced chef can do that just by slightly overcooking. You really use to make sure you don't overcook
