Those engrams only did that because it was only an update, it won't work for a full dlc release. But you'll have a bunch of exotic shards to show for it. Also don't forget to stockpile heavy synth! 100 is a full faction rank, I've got over 2000 vaulted and I'll keep going until the dlc hits. Coupled with the 1000+ motes I have, I'll go up at least 10 ranks per character with the factions.

What I would also recommend, would be to complete the iron banner weekly bounties. And hold the pass iron banner, that way you can have 75 legendary marks per character. That way you can get that sweet new gear and guns from Saladin.

1 strange coin can buy 3 heavy ammo synthesis from Xur, 100 heavy ammo synthesis will rank up a faction by 1 rank, so if you spend 100 strange coins on Heavy ammo synthesis from Xur you can get 3 faction rank ups. So far I have 1500 heavy ammo synthesis, so when rise of iron hits I can get 15 faction rank ups for new loot. You guys should do this too!! It's super helpful!!

Getting rank 25 in any faction will give u an exotic class item quest so if ur going for that then that is a reason to still rank up your faction

You should save a few exotic engrams until after you finish the story mode, that way when you level up after the story mode missions, you will still have exotic engrams to decrypt.

Exotics may drop at higher light but they will not drop the new or returning exotics. those engrams will not drop an icebreaker. Only exotic the are current as of right now.

I would try to get most of the exotic weapons cause with all the nerfs and buffs in destiny you never know which guns are going to be the best in year 3 and it increases your playing time by a lot

Great video, just one comment I wanted to make about stock piling exotic engrams. The April update was just an update not an expansion which is why they were able to decrypt at the higher light level so I don't believe they will decrypt at rise of iron light levels. Otherwise if you are someone who doesn't buy rise of iron they need to prevent you from getting new loot.

I'm going to still save all Leg/Exotic engrams maybe exotics drop at new levels....maybe they don't who knows? but leveling the cryptarc may just be a way to get new stuff of any kind we'll see. I'd rather prep and it not be useful, than to be sitting there wishing I had for sure...

+Djengiss you're not saving bounties because of the level cap, you're saving them because that's a way to store xp. Xp you can use to level up gear, level up factions, etc...

Most of this is actually pointless in a way. Stock piling materials and or glimmer is useless because the new quests will put you in areas with materials. and also glimmer is given by pretty much everything. Stock piling it would only be good if you jumped right into max light and level but ... progressively leveling makes preparing pointless besides the three of coins and engrams if they actually turn over to the new dlc there is no point in cluttering up your vault if half of it will possibly not exist anyways

It's pointless, Pyro is wrong about the exotic thing unfortunately. Rise of Iron is a DLC and not an update. For the December and April updates, the exotics carried over because it was still The Taken King. But when Rise of Iron comes out, Taken King engrams will reward Taken King items while Rise of Iron engrams will reward Rise of Iron exotics. Just rank up the Cryptarch with all of those engrams, get exotic shards, and just hold onto Three of Coins to get Rise of Iron drops.

I hear you. I started on 360 as well, eventually upgrading to a PS4 this past winter after saving up for awhile. I'm pretty sure it's primarily just so Microsoft can make more money by pushing their new console. --- Even so, the difference in memory space and processing power can't be denied. It does suck to be given the choice of "Upgrade to have fun" or "Stay behind and enjoy the 'old' system". The bright side to this is that leaving behind the older consoles opens up more design space for the developers. Bungie is on record as having stated that "in order to push new content for legacy consoles, [we] would have to delete other features to make space for it". The other bright side is that you can continue playing Destiny (sans competitive PvP and Live Events) for as long as Microsoft chooses to support online capabilities for the "old-gen" consoles. TL;DR: It sucks, but it's for the greater good in the end.
