Destiny's Child vs Little Mix - Acapella

This video is a comparison of some of these groups harmonies. It is not about who did it first, who sold more, who's been around longer. Both groups have talented singers. But whose harmonies are better?

Timothy BrownAgree, On another point, there are awesomely talented vocal groups out there that will never get a chance because the only way to get signed is through Simon and his Disneyfied "talent" shows or if you're on a "reality "show. And if you have an all Black vocal group you may as well forget it. If Destiny's Child just came out today they would not even get signed unless Beyonce had 3 white girls with her. Destiny's child harmonies, blend and tone are smoother by far and easier on the ear. Sometimes little mix falls short on their blend and unison and it begins to sound like 4 singers all singing over each other at once and even though they are singing together, it sounds apart. It's all about BLEND and more BLEND EVEN MORE BLENDING then TONE AND HARMONY. EnVogue and Destiny's Child have the best harmonies and syncretism of any girl group.

Keep in mind these videos of little mix were literally months after they got put together.. And little mix are a pop group, destinys child were a soulful group. Little mix were also all very young and had never sang in a band. I personally like little mix better for so many reasons.

Every time DC harmonise it sounds effortless and blends so smoothly, they have such a full and rich sound. LM's harmonies sound great but they're so simple and lack the soul that the DC women evoke. Though, you're comparing an r&b group to a pop group and both genres harmonise differently using different intervals with notes.

They are good, but Destiny's Child has more of an advantage because Beyonce's dad literally made these girls rehearse for hours and job while singing for hours and repeat this for about 5 years and they'll get used to it, but Little Mix is the best girl group right now and are starting to get on Destiny's Child level.

Destinys child are one of the greatest girl groups the industry has seen, along with the supreme's, TLC and the spice girls, but I personally prefer little mix, I think little mix are so underated, their vocals are honestly everything, they literally sound like angel's when they harmonize, if you don't believe me watch good enough live salute tour, or Dance with somebody cover by little mix, their acapella's are amazing, if you don't believe me watch the end by little mix or doo woop/ never leave you acapella by little mix, the thing I love most about little mix, is there is not just one lead singer, there's no back up singers, there are 4 lead singers, but with destiny's child it was basically beyonce and friends😞 there's no doubt Beyonce has an amazing voice, but in my own opinion Perrie is equal to her, they both can hit low and high notes, they both can hold a note, perrie's longest held note was around 19 or 20 seconds (if you don't believe me search it up), Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne have amazing voices too, trust me you'd be surprised, listen to whos loving you cover by little mix, they sound like angels, none of the girls in little mix are a Kelly Rowland, and they definitely aren't a Michelle Williams, and if you don't know what i mean im basically saying none of the little mix girls are back up to anyone, they all stand on their own two feet with their sound, no doubt Destinys child have more recognition, and global success and are basically legends, Little mix haven't been together as long as Destinys child, but expect big things, don't underestimate Little mix😊 both groups are amazing

Little Mix just met each other for the first time in 2011 and Destiny's Child, despite lineup changes, had 2 members that stayed throughout and sang together in childhood. Of course it's no contest, DC takes this, but give LM a bit more time, they've come a long way and definitely are great acapella (even Kelly Rowland herself said so) but they need more polishing to live up to Destiny's Child or En Vogue.

And that's why they got kicked out of the group. When they replaced both of them with Michelle, then Beyoncé allowed the rest to have solos. I really can't decide, DC have killer harmonies, but Beyoncé always had the spotlight and the other girls were like backup, and I thing that's really unfair as a group. While DC have the harmonies, LM do more than just that, like, one is the beatbox, the other one is the rhythm, and they all sing. I'm a Mixer, and I know that the person who did this video, choose just normal performances, when LM have other way better acapellas. So, I just can't decide who did it better. LM have controlled their harmonies this year and they are getting better and better (watch them perform their song "the end" o their cover of "bills bills bills") and DC had a lot more experience than them. But LM is catching up quickly, even Kelly said they're amazing at acapella when they just had MONTHS together as a group.

i get the feeling somebody thought the two groups were actually comparable in harmonies if nothing else... but they aren't. Little Mix isn't awful, but they need to work on their blend. They sound like a bunch of individuals singing at the same time, not a group. They sound like amateurs who think one person singing a third above everyone else is sufficient to be considered good group harmony and i say that because someone is consistently missing their mark or just doubling on someone else's note when they shouldn't be... Again, i don't think Little Mix is terrible at all. and i do know their attempts at live harmony are better than many of today's popular groups... but Destiny's Child comes from a time when the competition was stiffer and expectations much higher if you were going to attempt live harmony. they were trained for that. You have to remember when they came along, there were the backstreet boys (seriously, go search their harmonies), nsync, boyz ii men (everybody knows how killer they were in that department... still are)... and coming in around the same time was 112, Jagged Edge, and you may be able to include Dru Hill. right before them there were the R&B groups other than Boyz II Men they would have heard doing harmony - Shai, EnVogue (little mix covered the Jackson 5 "Who's Loving You" in this video... go watch EnVogue's do it... in fact, they were attempting to emulate EnVogue with that cover), SWV (again, i encourage you to look up their acapella performances).... and this doesn't even account for who they would have been listening to growing up... harmony is a BIG deal in R&B and Gospel (which is the backgrounds of Destiny's Child) so it makes sense that they would have put way more emphasis on it for way longer than Little Mix has even had the opportunity to do so.... and basically ensured this comparison was a bad idea unless the point was to show how superior Destiny's Child was on that end... but i don't think any musically inclined people were questioning that.

Little mix just randomly got put together and totally clicked and had incredibly smooth harmonies literally a WEEK after, and during the X factor they had found themselves so quickly and harmonies came to effortlessly. Little mix are also not known for their incredible voices/ harmonies.. Where as everyone knew that about DC. Little mix also are the best of friends and let each other sing and have their own styles.. They can also do so many more things that DC can't when it comes to talent.. I feel like DC didn't need all their members either, they were better as a three whereas little mix wouldn't be the same if just one member left. Little mix didn't have any experience of being in a band but yet so soon after they got put together they had such tight harmonies.. Not to mention most of these videos are from years ago they are even better now. Also this only showed one talent of little mix. They can also do oprea, dance, rap, act, play instruments, write their own songs and do their own choreography which these other bands may not do. I think people get the wrong idea about little mix since they are a "manufactured" pop band when in reality if they could have full control over everything they do, they would. All their cheesy singles aren't what they chose to release. You should listen to the songs they write on their album or watch more live lounges or performances of them they'll blow you away with their talent :).

DC, dah. What makes it worse is that Destiny's Child used very difficult harmonies and executed them flawlessly. Little Mix used basic harmonies and still sounded worse than DC on their worse day. I think little should have been compared to 5th Harmony, not DC. DC has one of the best blends the music industry has seen. They make Little Mix look like a high school barbershop quartet.

To those of you complaining about beyonce being the center of the group. First of all, Beyonce composes the majority of the songs(designs the harmony), she played the biggest role in song writing, and does a great job and making executive choices(she was the most mature in the group). with that being said, all the members were fine with her role, because they respected her shine..which obviously worked..given the groups success and beyonces solo success. The girls looked to Beyonce for leader despite all that happened in the group..they constantly remind the world that Beyonce never stepped on their foot, they knew they're roles..except when it came to their fair share of money, which Beyonce didn't control. The melody of a song should always be heard above the harmonies..and granted beyonce has the most commercial and versatile it, plus composed most of the melodies(not lyrics) its only natural that she sing the loudest parts. She was the leader and the group made it clear..that's why their formula worked! I won't waste my time comparing DC to this basic group. nothing stands out about LM and i listen to all genres.

DC, super seasoned girls that have that solid gospel vibe, and little mix teeny boppers that for me? are representing some amazing singers from the UK. I'ts a totally different style of singing (beatboxing on top of singing). Both are amazing, as a fan of DC since my early 20's I'll always love them but ya know, you cant' take away from the fact that Little Mix were thrown together on a talent show in the UK and are making headlines, they can SING too! Little Mix has nice voices but their harmonies, and how they layer their voices don't play to their strengths. the man reason Destiny's Child was such a great girl group was they always played to each others strengths vocally making their harmonies super tight and clean.

To all that saying DC3 is Beyonce and the backup singer, go ahead and listen to LM. BLENDING is what essentials in harmonisation. You hear Beyonce too loud? If you put Michelle sings the low part and Kelly sings the high part on the same loudness of Beyonce's, they will sounded like a 3 singers sing solo together just like what LM did. Volume control what makes a harmony well blended. Just that the risk for that(well blended harmony), the singer who sings the middle part will be hated and be labelled to seek attention or to be looked as the best singer which is in this case it's Beyonce.

Tame Carey Latavia, Letoya and Farrah were not an OFFICIAL Destiny's child member. The DC that the world knew was Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle so the previous original members are not counted. They were just big reason how the OFFICIAL Destiny's child member came together.

I think it is a little unfair to compare Little Mix with Destiny's Child. DC have been around longer. Little Mix were randomly put together as a group on X-Factor and none of them knew each other before X-Factor and considering that LM are working very well as a group. They are getting better and better with each album. Since this video they have had another album their harmonies are stronger than before. Besides Kelly Rowland formed Little Mix, she obviously knew what she was doing. I think it would be a fair comparison when LM will be as experienced as DC.

They are BOTH great, but the major difference between the two is the soul singing style that Destiny's Child sings, which means they utilize riffs more than Little Mix does. Both styles are awesome, as long as the harmonies are tight, which they are...so KUDOS to both groups.

Just because Destiny's Child is a legend and more famous that doesn't mean they're always better in anything though. I think some people are afraid to admit that younger generation can be as good, or even better than the old ones. Destiny's Child is so good but Little Mix is so good too, have you seen their performances recently. I really can't decide both are great.

Destiny child have probably the tightest and most polished harmonies you'll hear so for sure they won! But from what I watched little mix's best accapella performances were not on this video what so ever I've heard them sing 10 times better than what was on here.

okay so I couldn't decide at first but I think I'm gonna settle on both of them being very different, the thing is that the way the two groups were harmonizing was very very different. Each girl in LM was singing at a different pitch while harmonizing when DC wasn't, they were all singing in the same-ish pitch. So I don't know really...
