I cant remember where it comes from but there's a passage where Caiatl is overthrowing her father and Calus is holding an Ahamkara wish-giving bone and he says "In my hands it is silent" really highlights how hollow and empty he is. He was empty and hollow for almost all his life.

I aint gonna cap this video was amazing. Pointing out Calus as a sad old man stuck in depression really hits home for me and just exemplified how well Bungie actually designed his character. Can’t wait for part 2 👀

Hello my friend, Edumesh here. I'm glad that my reddit post gave you the inspiration needed to make this wonderful video essay! Destiny does characterization very well and Calus has always been my favorite character psychology wise alongside Mara. They're just fascinating and compelling people, and these stories deserve more attention than they get from the overall Destiny community.

Destiny's villains have gotten so much better, Eramis and her redemption arc that I theorize will end in her being raised as the first eliksny guardian has been so great and well written, The Witness has been built since shadowkeep and they are in my opinion one of the best final antagonists in media, hopefully final shape puts them next to Thanos in that tier list, this world is so awesome and I can't wait to see it expanded into other mediums.

For Eramis I actually want her and Misraaks to rule as the first dual Kell, I know with the prophecy dungeon there was a huge light and dark thing and I think it’d be great to see that physically manifest with house light, hell they could even call it “house unity” under the dual Kell system

@@LaLloronaVTEramis still uses stasis tho meaning she’s still under the witnesses mercy and if she rebels can be turned to stasis in seconds. Perhaps in a future season she will drop the gauntlet and die on her own terms and that is the sacrifice needed to become a guardian

My hope for the witness is they do not kill him off during the last Steph mission they have somthing else or even him but we don’t kill him and he is the final raid boss of the the final shapes raid. They can’t make his disciples look more powerful in gameplay than the witness itself. Combine all the darkness attacks we see the disciples have used and give him his own unique ones to show he is the master of them the one they taught them parts of his own power so they would be strong but never overtake him in power. I really feel like there going to ruin him tho by making him the campaign boss but I’m praying I’m wrong

Fun fact the Witness cutscene was actually a nightmare Calus had, this was actually to show how deep Nezeracs’ influence runs through the sol system.

This is a great video covering a great character. I think if the tone of Lightfall had shifted to focus more on Value it actually would have been great. Trying to make Nimbus the comic relief was a mistake, but imagine if we had had a bigger focus on Calus and learned about the cloudstriders in the post-campaign, I think it would have made for something great because as you say, Calus is an amazing character that you just need to pay attention to to see the terrible and brilliant broken man

(Hrm. and the *[Enemy's] influence* , as the very Personified image of *Evil/Death* (in the Destinyverses' own version), Loneliness, etc back within said-vast (Lore-wise Mostly. Unfortunately) franchise's cosmologies being the Root Cause of All of it (in the inhabitants within the Destinyverses' cases I mean), yes. since just before the start of T=0, in the 'Day' (not the kind of conventional Time that we currently know anyways) where the *[Darkness]* finally Struck the other and such cycles like these still continue to the post-T=0 existences. Tragically-).

This actually reminds me of a song called “ruler of everything” in where we hear a conversation with a character named Juno and the personification of time itself. Juno is actually a representation of how surface level humans are in society and don’t have a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them especially in modern times. Basically they talk for a while and Juno just keeps making comments to feel some sort of validation from time and time just keeps mocking him how pathetic and pointless he is, saying how you try to make yourself feel good in the verse where he says “you practice your mannerisms into the wall” and them time finally shows him how small of summer ant he actually is. And Juno snaps and “shoots the sun with a gun” and then the end is him accepting he is nothing more than a little boy. Nothing more than a small speck, a little inconspicuous subatomic particle.
