A big way to peg someone as a narcissist is if they admit to or acknowledge any wrongdoings, negative traits, mistakes, etc. Like you mentioned "he's never wrong". If you're in discussion, (text or anyway there's a record/ recording makes it easier to determine), and they just keep pointing out your flaws, mistakes, etc. if you're both pointing stuff out about each other and either deny or, flat out, ignore your claims or statements about them; big factor in them being narcissistic. I had an ex-girlfriend and in the end (after she ghosted me/ blocked all forms of contact for a day; one of many strategies a narcissist uses to manipulate), we had an argument over texts and while I admitted to and said I would improve/work on any criticisms she had of me, she would IGNORE anything I said about her. Reading it back it was as if she was in a one way conversation except she would acknowledge any admittance I had about my own failings as if I was admitting to the crime, "see! Even you know you do wrong and do it anyway!", when I was merely acknowledging her issues with me... The positive thing about narcissists is all the literature we have on them and their behavior. You can very easily tell if someone is narcissistic by the numerous things THEY ALL do. The only way to rid yourself of one is going no contact. You'll never be able to "fix" them. They've been broken their whole life. Generally by a family member they still strive to appease. Good luck, God speed.
