You can pick up bales from the end with a bale bed and pull it forward. Then go in from the side and pick them up.

Cattle farming is a passion, and it's great to hear you call them calves, instead of "baby cows" that so many airheads do. In Namibia we call castrated bull calves "oxen", not steers. Same difference, just for interest. Keep the videos coming, really enjoyable.

As i understand it: oxen are used to work the soil, steers are just for making meat.

Some may call them "baby cows" so non-farm folks can understand more about farming. Farm lingo can confuse the people not into that species! I am a lifetime dairy person, worked in a CAFO pig operation for 18 months and learned lingo there as a 40 something year old that i never learned on my family's farm. Last we had pigs on the family farm was in about 1973. I recall taking table scraps out to them, but never learned pig lingo. Later in life i learned some lingo about poultry, goats, and sheep too. I had poultry beginning in 2010 and got 2 goats for a little while. Am looking into meat goats and hair sheep. Each person learns at a different pace. My suburban Philadelphia neighbors were CLUELESS about any agricultural terms.

Yeah the lineback is about the perfect sized cow for what I’m wanting. But I’m going to be only spring calving on the rental place, so she will probably be heading to a replacement sale.

As high as prices are I'm selling all of my heifers. They are worth more now than they will be their whole life.

That’s something I’ve considered as well. But eventually people will have to start rebuilding and keeping back heifers. Prices will continue to go up when/if that happens. Plus I can sell off some older cows while the market it high and still not be hurt too bad by keeping heifers.
