Thank you Kaspa for this video and another video on d4 opening of O'Sullivan's gambit. I was losing a lot facing d4 where I did d5 and then c4 e6 because I don't know what to do correctly in Queen's Gambit. I just won a game with d4 b5 while finally my opponent was greedy to take my knight as cxd5. I took the bishop back and even I forgot my Ba6 and did Bb7, I won at the end with another forking by my Queen - it's so powerful. Thank you again and hope to see more opening courses in your channel.

14:38 instead of b3.. white will play b4.. then black should resign
@chrisdavis2161
@chrisdavis2161 2 жыл бұрын
you're saying white WILL play b4, but only 45 of the 223 people that played this line on Lichess found the correct move (from 3.5 billion total games). The answer from this position isn't as obvious as you would think for white because that light square bishop is trying to win that rook (that's why it's a trap). If they take the rook first, the advantage for black is double the advantage white would get from b4 Qxb4 Bxa8. There is only one good move from this position (to redirect the queen from the 5th rank and that diagonal), everything else loses or equalizes. if you wanted to play safe you would play 7...Nc6 and black is completely fine

White can avoid the gambit and the Alekhine altogether by playing the dull 2. Nc3, which protects the e4 pawn. However, more fun is the chase variation: 1. e4 Nf6 2. e5 Nd5 3. c4 Nb6 4. d4 d6. White's center is more stable than it looks. A maneuvering game results, which requires careful play by both sides.

You are correct: White can play c4 first and still get to the main lines, e.g. 3. c4 Nb6 4. d4 d6 and now 5. exd6 is popular in tournaments to avoid the ultra-messy positions after 5. f4. With that said, 2...b5 is hardly anything to lose sleep over. If you don't entirely trust the pawn grab (which isn't to say 3. Bxb5 is bad - objectively, it's probably the best move here) just play 3. Nf3. Then if 3...d6 you can play 4. Bxb5+, taking the pawn with check and giving Black no real compensation. You're probably more likely to see 3...c5 after 3. Nf3, if only because it's the move played after 3. Bxb5, but then there's a fun line that goes 4. c4!? (now Black will be thinking, "Wait, I thought I stopped this move") bxc4 5. Bxc4 Nb6 (or 5...e6 6. Bxd4 exd5 7. O-O with a clear advantage to White) 6. Bxf7+! Kxf7 7. dxc5, trapping the knight to regain the sacrificed piece, e.g. 7...Nc4 8. Qd5+.
